Position Summary


Applications are being accepted to create a pool of qualified applicants for possible future part-time teaching positions within the Pierce College District (Washington State) 

Applications will remain on file for 1 year.

Lecture rate is generally $1,190.98 per credit hour.


Essential Functions


  • Teach course(s) as assigned.
  • Conduct assigned classes in a manner that promotes student success and incorporates various teaching styles and technology.
  • Be available to students before and after class, and
  • Work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.


Qualifications


Required:

Meet one of the following:

  • Graduate degree from an accredited institution in the discipline required.
OR
  • Graduate degree from an accredited institution from any discipline including 15 graduate credits in the discipline

  • Must complete professional-technical faculty certification (for those teaching 2/3 full time load for more than equivalent of 3 quarters)

Benefits



A part time faculty member becomes eligible for healthcare and retirement benefits at the beginning of the second consecutive quarter of half-time or more employment at one or more Washington state institutions of higher education. Half time is determined based on each institution's definition of full time. Members may 'stack' workloads between other qualifying colleges. 

A part-time faculty member must qualify each quarter they teach, to maintain eligibility. Once eligible, part-time faculty will be notified of their benefit and retirement options.

Leave
Adjunct faculty accrue one personal leave day per quarter.

Tuition Reimbursement
Adjunct faculty working half-time or more may take space-available classes for $5 per quarter with the Tuition Waiver program.
