Job description

The Creative Studio at Champlain College  is seeking to fill an adjunct faculty position in the User Experience & Interaction Design Program for the Fall 2026 semester. The available course is UXD 206 Web Design I

Champlain College fosters a career-focused hands-on learning environment.  Our classes are generally very interactive and faculty are encouraged to bring meaningful experiences to the classroom.

Classes are held on campus in Burlington, Vermont. While days and times are generally flexible to accommodate adjuncts' schedules, they may occasionally depend on lab availability. Applicants should reside within commuting distance of the Burlington, VT campus.

Course Descriptions:

UXD-206 - Web Design I (3 hours- one session per week, plus a two hour studio)

Designing for the web is fundamentally different from designing for print or static screens; layouts must flex, type must scale, and visual decisions play out across devices and contexts a designer can't fully predict. In this course, students develop hands-on fluency with the web as a design environment by analyzing existing sites, making intentional visual design decisions, and building responsive, multi-page websites using HTML and CSS. No prior coding experience required.

Requirements:

Experience with Adobe software and CSS + HTML is required

A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of industry experience in relevant areas are required.

A Master's degree in a related field, relevant experience, and teaching experience is preferred.

Compensation

Compensation for this position is determined by:

  • Credit hours taught per semester
  • Current collective bargaining agreement rates for adjunct faculty

Detailed compensation information will be provided to qualified candidates during the interview process. Champlain College offers competitive adjunct faculty rates consistent with regional standards and union agreements.
