We are building a practical AI PoC for a Swiss technology company: enabling the automated extraction of structured quantity frameworks from customer documents and preparing them for use in an existing calculation tool.
We are looking for an AI Engineer to build the technical foundation for this proof-of-concept. Your main task: use LLMs, vision models and document-processing workflows to extract relevant information from PDFs, Excel files, electrical schematics and image-based documents, and transform it into a structured, calculation-ready format.
What You’ll Do
- Analyse heterogeneous customer documents such as PDFs, Excel files, images and electrical schematics
- Evaluate suitable LLM, OCR, computer vision and extraction approaches
- Build a data pipeline to convert unstructured inputs into structured outputs such as JSON, SQL or database-ready formats
- Implement and test LLM / vision-based extraction workflows
- Validate results against existing offers and expert feedback
- Support the setup of a suitable development environment and repository
- Document the technical approach, limitations and next steps
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Engineering or a related field
- Strong Python skills
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompting, RAG, agents or structured data extraction
- Interest in multimodal AI, OCR, computer vision and document processing
- Comfortable working with PDFs, Excel files, images, technical documents and structured outputs
- Familiarity with databases, APIs, Git, Docker, cloud or on-prem environments
- Independent worker who enjoys solving clear technical problems
- Valid work permit
Nice to Have
- Experience with electrical schematics, symbol recognition or engineering documents
- Interest in calculation logic, industrial processes or automation
- Experience with ERP systems, Business Central / Dynamics 365 or similar environments
