This application programmer position at IKERD Consulting will work both independently and in a team with other Programmers with a focus on writing code and developing applications leveraging multiple tools, languages, processes, and technologies. Development will ensure that the technical solutions meet the business needs and are developed and implemented with high quality following agreed upon standards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for learning and be able to adapt to changing tasks quickly.
Position Description
A application programmer performs entry-level computer programming work, responsible for design, development, testing, and documentation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, as well as troubleshooting production problems, responding to problem tickets submitted by functional users, and updating the problem tracking system, as appropriate. Application programmer will also perform similar work on internal HR, accounting, CRM, and project management systems.
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Develop, update, and maintain computer programs or software processes to meet specific requirements such as storing or retrieving data, or interfacing between systems.
- Code, analyze, review, and rewrite programs, applying knowledge of system capabilities, subject matter, and logic.
- Perform revision, repair, or expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
- Consult with managerial and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes.
- Compile and write documentation of program development and subsequent revisions, inserting comments in the coded instructions so others can understand the program.
- Conduct test runs of programs and software applications to be sure they will produce the desired information and crate detailed test plans to aid user testing.
- Occasional development and maintenance of WordPress websites.
- Provides technical support for user issues; troubleshoots problems and takes corrective action on a timely, effective basis.
- Ability to adapt quickly to fast-paced changing environment and priorities.
- Motivation to take ownership of tasks and the determination to drive them to completion.
- Extract data from various existing systems for integration into existing databases and applications.
- Provide data analytics support to company leaders.
Employee will have a functional knowledge of various Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. Applications from candidates with no experience using BIM software will be accepted. If the successful candidate does not possess the required BIM related knowledge or experience, employment will begin with training in usage of BIM products to provide an understanding of the products before beginning related programming tasks.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Candidate should have completed a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field. The successful candidate will have completed two years of coursework in computing or information systems and one year of related computing or programming work experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the needed knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Basic knowledge of software engineering practices and methodologies.
- Basic knowledge of Git or similar version-control system
- Experience using SQL and working with MySQL or similar relational databases
- Experience using C# and Microsoft .NET framework
- Understanding of RESTful APIs
- Understanding of JSON and/or XML
- Experience with Office 365/SharePoint 365 is a bonus
- Basic understanding of ETL processes
- Experience using Python libraries for web scraping, data analytics (numpy, pandas, etc.), and machine learning.
