Position Summary


The Assistant Program Coordinator Trainee (SSP IA) is a trainee level appointment working under the lead direction of El Centro Serna Coordinator (SSP III) and with close supervision of the Director.  During the trainee period, which is not to exceed 12 months, the Assistant Program Coordinator Trainee (APCT) is expected to develop and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to function under general supervision at the SSP IB working level. 


The incumbent assists the Center’s Program Coordinator through clearly defined efforts to deliver integrated support services and programming aimed at improving students’ academic success, leadership, professional development, retention, and enrichment of the overall student experience.


The Assistant Program Coordinator Trainee supports the planning and implementation of the Center's outreach, recruitment, and engagement efforts by assisting with coordinating events, developing outreach activities, and assisting with initiatives that increase the Center's visibility and expand student access to programs and services. The incumbent collaborates with campus and community partners to help integrate student support services into Center programming.




FLSA: Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime compensation)




Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,150.00 per month. Anticipated starting salary is at the entry of the classification salary range.


CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,150.00 per month - $5,076.00 per month

Recruitment Type: Temporary (1-Year Limited Duration. Possibility for reclassification into the SSP IB classification for an additional 1-year appointment.)




Time Base: Full-Time




Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Summer Hours (May-August) will be 7:30 am - 4:00 pm with a 30 minutes lunch break. Hours may vary based on department needs.

Minimum Qualifications 




Knowledge and Abilities:


Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior; research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information; and the techniques and methods of interviewing. Ability to gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences and interviews; clearly express ideas and recommendations orally; write clear and concise reports; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and faculty.


Experience:  


None required.


Education:


Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job‑related field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis
