The Associate Engineer, under general supervision, designs, implements, and troubleshoots Network/VoIP solutions based upon business requirements. This includes but is not limited to configuring routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless access points / controllers, SD-WAN appliances in break/fix and new deployment scenarios. This position is responsible for ensuring the BFS Network/VoIP systems remain online and functional. Additionally, the position acts as an escalation point to the network operations center for resolution of Network/VoIP related issues. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs day-to-day administration of the network infrastructure. Conducts low complexity installation of basic hardware, systems, and software for network and/or security components, under guidance from senior team members. Works with vendors to ensure cabling/equipment installations are completed per business requirements. Under supervision, evaluates solutions to support the networking needs of business initiatives. Documents activities, events, materials, and issues within the network infrastructure. Prepares system performance or configuration reports as required. Updates policies and procedures. Participates in the configuration of routers, switches, wireless access points, LTE routers, and SD-WAN appliances in break/fix and new deployment scenarios. Assists with troubleshooting network and services performance at local and remote locations. Performs root cause analysis of simple problems and tracks and reports to supervisor. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
