Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Provide analytical and decision‑support assistance to Universal Destinations & Experiences (UDX) leadership by supporting operational and workforce analysis in a dynamic, guest‑facing environment. This role applies foundational industrial engineering, operations research, and analytical methods to help improve efficiency, service delivery, and workforce effectiveness across high‑volume operations. The Associate Industrial Engineer works under the guidance of senior Industrial Engineers and Managers to develop analyses, models, and decision‑support tools that inform planning, capacity, and productivity initiatives. This position offers hands‑on exposure to real‑world operational problems, with opportunities to grow technical skills, business judgment, and influence over time.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the development and maintenance of analytical and decision‑support solutions using industrial engineering and business analytics principles. Apply foundational analytical techniques, including statistics, process flow analysis, queuing concepts, scenario analysis, and optimization methods, to assist with diagnosing operational issues and evaluating alternatives.

  • Support labor planning, workforce utilization, scheduling, and productivity analyses by preparing data inputs, executing models, documenting assumptions, and summarizing results. Work closely with senior engineers to translate analytical outputs into actionable insights while learning to balance service levels, cost trade‑offs, and operational constraints.

  • Extract, clean, and prepare data using database querying tools and established data pipelines. Assist in building and maintaining analysis‑ready datasets by consolidating data from multiple enterprise systems and validating data quality.

  • Apply trend analysis and basic statistical techniques to support performance measurement and monitoring. Contribute to automation and repeatability efforts by helping productionize metrics, reports, and analytical logic using modern analytics and productivity tools within cloud‑based platforms.

  • Prepare analytical summaries, charts, and visualizations to support presentations and decision discussions with operations, finance, and other partners. Assist in developing dashboards and standardized reporting tools that enable stakeholders to understand performance, compare scenarios, and make informed decisions.

  • Collaborate closely with senior engineers, analysts, and operational partners. Participate in meetings, working sessions, and field observations to build business context and technical understanding.

  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, Decision Science, or a closely related field.

  • Preferred

    • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, Decision Science, or a closely related field of study.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Required

    • 2+ years of applied experience in industrial engineering, analytics, operations research, or a related analytical role, including internships, co‑op programs, or rotational assignments.

  • Preferred

    • Experience supporting hospitality, theme park, resort, retail, dining, entertainment, airline, or other high‑volume service operations with variable demand.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Working proficiency in SQL and at least one programming or analytical scripting language (such as Python or R), with the ability to write queries, perform analyses, and support reusable analytical workflows.

  • Experience supporting analytical or decision support solutions, including data preparation, execution of analyses, and documentation of results.

  • Foundational understanding of industrial engineering or operations research concepts, including statistics, process analysis, capacity analysis, queuing, or optimization.

  • Experience working with business intelligence or data visualization tools (such as Power BI or Tableau) and exposure to cloud based data platforms (such as Snowflake or Azure).

  • Familiarity with modern analytics and productivity tools (such as Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT) to improve analytical efficiency, documentation, and learning.

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills, with the ability to follow structured approaches and incorporate feedback.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical findings to technical and non technical audiences.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and partner effectively with operations, finance, and technology stakeholders.

  • Willingness to learn operational processes through field observations and data collection activities.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast paced environment with guidance from senior team members.

  • Willingness to support a 24/7/365 operation, including awareness of peak periods such as weekends and holidays.
