Job Description:

Platform Engineering Lead (Infrastructure, Containers, Cloud & Production Support)

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior DevOps / Platform Engineering Lead with 10+ years of proven experience in infrastructure operations, cloud platforms, container orchestration, middleware administration, and production support. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-critical production environment.

This role requires a proactive individual who can lead technical initiatives, mentor team members, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive operational excellence across enterprise platforms.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, DevOps, platform engineering, or production support environments.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of team leadership / technical leadership experience.
  • Experience working in 24x7 production support environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage production infrastructure, container platforms, and cloud operations.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and support teams.
  • Drive incident management, problem management, root cause analysis (RCA), and service improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with application, database, network, security, and cloud teams for seamless service delivery.
  • Manage stakeholder communication during critical incidents, escalations, and planned maintenance activities.
  • Ensure platform availability, scalability, performance, and security compliance.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and recommend infrastructure modernization strategies.
  • Develop operational standards, automation frameworks, SOPs, and technical documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, monitoring, and optimization initiatives.

Technical Skills

Containerization & Orchestration

Strong hands-on experience with:

  • Docker
  • Kubernetes

Strong understanding of:

  • Container lifecycle management
  • Cluster administration
  • Deployments, StatefulSets, Services, Ingress
  • Storage, networking, security, RBAC
  • Troubleshooting containerized production workloads

Cloud Platforms

Good working knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically:

  • Amazon EC2
  • Amazon S3
  • Amazon ECS
  • Amazon EKS
  • Elastic Load Balancing, Auto Scaling, IAM, VPC fundamentals

CI/CD & Automation

Strong experience with:

  • Jenkins
  • CI/CD pipeline design and implementation

Knowledge of:

  • Git-based workflows
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible preferred)
  • Scripting using Shell, Python, or PowerShell

Middleware & Application Platforms (Preferred)

Hands-on or working knowledge of:

  • IBM WebSphere Application Server
  • Apache Tomcat
  • Experience in application deployments, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

Operating Systems & Infrastructure

Strong administration and troubleshooting experience in:

  • Linux-based systems
  • Windows Server environments

Knowledge of:

  • Networking fundamentals
  • DNS, Load Balancers, SSL/TLS
  • Storage concepts
  • Monitoring and logging tools

Production Support

Experience in:

  • Incident, problem, and change management
  • RCA preparation
  • Capacity planning
  • Performance tuning
  • Vulnerability remediation
  • Disaster recovery and high availability architectures

Leadership & Behavioral Competencies

  • Proven experience in leading technical teams and driving accountability.
  • Strong mentoring and coaching abilities for junior team members.
  • Self-driven, quick learner, and capable of independently handling critical situations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ownership mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively in high-pressure production environments.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing communication capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across global regions.
  • Experience presenting technical updates, risk assessments, and executive summaries.

Work Schedule

Must be flexible to work in rotational shifts, including weekends, holidays, and on-call support, as required by business operations.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

  • Cloud certifications from Amazon Web Services preferred.
  • Kubernetes certifications such as CKA/CKAD preferred.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk.
  • Exposure to security best practices, compliance frameworks, and DevSecOps methodologies.
