Job Description:

Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is a two -year community/technical college that offers more than 75 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs for students who are either seeking quick entry into the workforce or desiring to transfer to a senior institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree. HGTC offers three convenient campus locations in South Carolina, including Myrtle Beach, Conway and Georgetown.


Horry-Georgetown Technical College seeks a full-time Associate Professor of Computer Technology – Cybersecurity emphasis. The successful candidate will be required to teach a combination of online, hybrid, and face-to-face classes at any Horry-Georgetown Technical College campus location. The successful candidate will report to the Computer Technology Academic Chair and will be responsible for the following duties (this list is not intended to be exhaustive):



  • Instructional planning, teaching, and learning; student recruitment, retention and advising

  • Developing program syllabi, goals, and objectives

  • Evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives

  • Assessing Computer Technology/Cyber students’ learning objectives

  • Preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports

  • Work with the Computer Technology program advisory board to maintain and enhance the curriculum and assess program outcomes

  • Providing academic advisement to students

  • Participating in academic term registrations

  • Meeting with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of students

  • Maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences


Required Experience:



  • Experience with Networking and Security Concepts to include but not limited to:

    • Windows Operating Systems, Servers, VMWare, VSphere

    • Python, SQL, and Linux



  • Knowledge and/or experience with Cisco routers and switches, VoIP, Cloud Technologies, Forensics, and Ethical Hacking





Advertised Salary:

Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave. 





Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in Computer Science or related area or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related area plus three (3) years' experience. Professional certification in an appropriate major may be accepted in lieu of Master's degree. 





Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge and/or experience with two of the following certifications: CCNA, Security+, Network+, CYSA, Certified Ethnical Hacker. Two years’ college-level teaching experience
