We are searching for the best talent for an Associate Scientist, Biologics Analytical Development – Sample Management based in Malvern, PA.

Purpose:

The Associate Scientist, Sample Management, is part of the Analytical Development (AD) Proteins organization and is responsible for maintaining sample management system infrastructure, enabling right-first-time submissions, and coordinating efficient sample disposition to analytical laboratories. The Associate Scientist will partner closely with researchers, analytical testing groups, and cross-functional stakeholders to strengthen data integrity, reduce manual effort, minimize rework, and accelerate delivery of clean, decision-ready results.

Your will be responsible for:

  • Build, maintain, and support sample management system infrastructure, including units, parameter templates, activities, activity plans, and related configurations, to align digital workflows with business and analytical testing needs.
  • Partner with researchers, testing groups, and business stakeholders to integrate study design and sample submission workflows into the sample management system, enabling efficient progression from study creation through result reporting.
  • Review and verify sample submissions for completeness and accuracy, supporting right-first-time sample intake, data integrity, and readiness for analytical testing.
  • Maintain and support triage tools and files, including activity plans, auto-triage mappings, submission screening resources, activity requirements validators, and direct-to-lab assay maps.
  • Receive, disposition, and coordinate routing of validated, test-ready samples to the appropriate analytical laboratories based on testing assignments and established assay maps.
  • Support direct-to-lab sample movement to reduce delays, minimize manual handoffs, and protect analytical testing and study timelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to resolve submission, routing, and system configuration questions while providing user support and training for sample management processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that standardize sample management processes, reduce rework, improve operational consistency, and accelerate delivery of clean, decision-ready results.
  • Support biologics programs through leading external sample management activities such as submissions and result entry.
  • Import new equipment to the sample management system to enable data parsing and end-to end workflow.


 

Qualifications / Requirements:

Education:

  • Minimum of a B.S. with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience or M.S. in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field with at least 1 year of relevant experience is required

Required:

  • Experience supporting sample management, laboratory operations, analytical development, or a related scientific operations function.   
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sample-related workflows with strong attention to detail, data integrity, documentation quality, and adherence to established procedures.
  • Ability to work in digital laboratory systems and support accurate sample submission, tracking, disposition, and routing activities.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage competing activities, follow up on open items, and support accelerated project timelines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across researchers, analytical testing groups, external partners, and business stakeholders. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot process or system-related questions, escalate issues appropriately, and contribute to improvements that reduce rework and improve operational consistency.  
  • Highly self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn new systems, workflows, and business processes in a fast-paced scientific environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, and Copilot.
     

Preferred:

  • Experience with BIOVIA, LIMS, sample management systems, electronic laboratory notebooks, or other digital platforms used to support sample tracking and analytical workflows.
  • Knowledge of system configuration, workflow enablement, system qualification, business suitability testing, or user acceptance testing activities.
  • Experience supporting direct-to-lab routing, assay maps, activity plans, sample intake, submission screening, or other triage-related processes.
  • Experience with automation systems, laboratory equipment integration, or data parsing workflows.
  • Familiarity with coding or data query languages such as Python, SQL, or Perl.
  • Experience with document management systems such as TruVault or Documentum.
