Job Description

We are seeking a driven and results-oriented Business Development Representative to help expand our presence within the commercial construction, facility services, and technology infrastructure markets.

This role is ideal for a true hunter who thrives on identifying new opportunities, building strategic relationships, and developing business from the ground up. The successful candidate will focus on generating new Request for Quotations (RFQs), bid invitations, negotiated projects, and service opportunities by developing relationships with key decision-makers throughout the commercial construction industry.

Business Development & Prospecting

  • Develop and maintain relationships with General Contractors, Electrical Contractors, Construction Managers, Facility Managers, Property Managers, and commercial building owners.

  • Identify and secure placement on contractor bid lists.

  • Generate new RFQs, bid invitations, and negotiated project opportunities.

  • Conduct regular in-person prospecting visits and relationship-building meetings.

  • Build relationships with Project Managers, Estimators, Purchasing Managers, Operations Leaders, and other key stakeholders.

  • Attend industry networking events, trade shows, association meetings, and business functions.

  • Research and identify upcoming construction and facility projects.

  • Maintain a disciplined prospecting schedule and territory development plan.

  • Track sales activities, contacts, opportunities, and follow-up actions within the CRM system.

  • Maintain consistent follow-up throughout extended commercial sales cycles.

  • Collaborate with estimating and leadership teams to maximize bid success and conversion rates.

This position is focused on developing new sources of Request for Quotations (RFQs), bid invitations, negotiated projects, and service opportunities through relationship development within the commercial construction, facility services, and building technologies markets.
The ideal candidate is a true hunter who enjoys prospecting, building relationships, creating opportunities, and developing new business from the ground up. Success in this role will be measured by the ability to establish new contractor relationships, gain access to bidding opportunities, and generate a consistent pipeline of qualified opportunities that convert into profitable revenue.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of business development, outside sales, or commercial sales experience.

  • Proven success generating new business opportunities through prospecting and relationship development.

  • Experience selling to contractors, facility organizations, commercial building owners, or construction-related businesses.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting cold calls, cold visits, networking, and business development activities.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory.

  • Experience utilizing CRM systems and sales activity tracking tools.
