Job Description Summary:
SENIOR JAVA DEVELOPER
This position is responsible for choosing, deploying and evolving technology infrastructure for all development projects that require latest technologies. The incumbent is also required to ensure software integration and technical cohesion of the product, and coordinate with different departments and teams to make sure projects are completed on time and within the allocated budget. In addition, the other tasks include designing, implementing, and modifying high quality software that is also affordable, maintainable, and fast to build, and guides software architecture, design, development and testing activities.

SENIOR JAVA DEVELOPER
FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL MODELING OF COMPONENTS, DATABASES ETC.
• Creates architectural views describing business data, application, technology; builds and deploys architecture necessary to achieve business objectives
• Provides architectural design, reviews and consultation throughout the life cycle of application development projects from project definition, technical feasibility assessment, requirements analysis, prototyping, architecture definition, system design, construction, quality assurance to finally production deployment
• Designs objects, data structures, processing steps and flows; as well as APIs as appropriate
• Authors and maintains architecture documents and presentations as required
DEVELOPS HIGH-LEVEL ARCHITECTURAL PROTOTYPES FOR NEW COMPONENTS TO BE DEVELOPED, DOCUMENTS ARCHITECTURE
• Understands and documents areas (domains) for which the system will be built, learns client requirements in detail
• Assesses the client's business and technology environment and ensures that the interplay with scope on domain terms and concepts are accurately defined
• Trains system operators and users when new applications have been installed, documents user guides for new applications
UP-TO-DATE WITH EVOLVING TECHNOLOGIES AND INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT
• Searches for tools and methodologies in accordance with evolving technologies through best programming practices. For example, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) technology for ACROSS application and Spring for CIG, web frameworks like JSF and Enterprise Edition EE7
• Researches feasibility and system design. Provides recommendations to implement and support these systems.
• Devises long-term effective solutions, identifies new areas of data technology, and consistently innovates for continuous advancement of technology in the company
• Keeps abreast with best/current practices in software development technologies
• Performs any other task as advised by the Manager
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or IT related discipline
• Minimum 9 years of strong knowledge and experience in architecture, design, implementation, test, and deployment of enterprise software systems
• Expert knowledge of Java programming, JSP/SEVLETS, SQL, ORACLE, TOMCAT, etc.
• Proven experience with Object Oriented technologies
• Extensive familiarity with web-based application architectures (Seam, Hibernate, Ajax, Spring, EE7, JSF, EDI, etc.)
• Deep knowledge and understanding in building modern client/server systems as well as current enterprise architectures and web based enterprise software
• Complies with all IS&T policies and procedures including the SOX and GEODE mandated change-management procedure
• Experience working in an agile software environment and leading teams through this design process is preferred
• Must possess good written & oral communications skills in both languages French and English and be able to work well in a team environment
• Must have good problem solving, multi-tasking, customer service & organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and lead teams in architectural decision making
• Ability to assist/mentor less experienced programmers as needed, may be responsible for many ongoing projects

The incumbent(s) of this position is expected to perform all other related duties as assigned, including on-call for after-hour’s systems alerts and emergency user issues; may maintain and support applications during this after hour support.
