Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Position Summary

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides occupational therapy treatment to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. This role supports patients in improving functional independence, mobility, strength, coordination, and ability to perform activities of daily living.

The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality patient care in a clinical healthcare environment. Candidates must hold all required certifications and licensure. New graduates are welcome to apply.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy interventions as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.

  • Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, mobility training, and activities of daily living.

  • Monitor patient progress and report status changes to the Occupational Therapist.

  • Accurately document treatments, responses, and outcomes in accordance with regulatory and facility standards.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to support patient care and discharge planning.

  • Maintain therapy equipment and treatment areas in a clean and safe condition.

  • Follow all infection control, safety, and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

  • Current COTA license in good standing.

  • Current CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain prior to start).

  • Strong communication, organization, and patient care skills.
