VCA Shoreline Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center is looking for a Veterinary Receptionist to join our team in Shelton, CT.
CSR Overnight Schedule: Wednesday thru Saturday 11pm - 7am
CSR 2nd Shift Schedule: Monday & Wednesday 2pm - 12pm
CSR Day Shifts: Friday & Saturday: 8am - 6pm
The Position:
The position requires a person who is self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently. The receptionist position will be responsible for greeting clients, answering phones, and directing calls to the appropriate person. The receptionist position will also be responsible for scheduling appointments, maintaining accurate records, and performing administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a veterinary setting preferred.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to work from home on occasion.
- Must be comfortable working with animals (cats and dogs) and have experience handling pets of any size.
- Must be comfortable using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Why We Need You
As the face of VCA, the Client Service Representative sets the tone for the practice as we build and maintain each customer's trust and confidence in our abilities. The CSR is the pivot around which the hospital operates and is responsible for:
- Customer service functions, including: greeting visitors, answering telephones, and guiding clients and their pets to exam rooms.
- Scheduling and confirming appointments.
- Placing outbound calls for follow-ups and reaching out to prospective clients.
- Presenting and explaining fees, including processing payments.
- Recommending, selecting, and obtaining products and services, including prescriptions.
- Answering questions regarding products and services
- Managing medical records, charts, reports and correspondence.
- Hospital maintenance (including removal of animal waste) and ensuring that facility is neat and clean at all times—both inside and outside.
