Job description

CAMH’s new strategic plan, Connected CAMH 2024-2030 has laid out a bold vision for advancing care through discovery and education, getting upstream to provide care earlier, and lifting society to impact mental health justice. The implementation of this plan calls for ways to ensure access to care within CAMH and to support through partners in the community. It also focuses on quality and experience, ensuring a seamless path for patients during their care with CAMH.

CAMH has been a prominent provider of mental health and addiction care for third party funded programs in support of workers and related populations. The demand for these services has only increased in recent years. In addition, CAMH is accountable to support a high quality and timely service. CAMH has partnered with several organizations to deliver these programs. This new Director position is designed to continue to strategically advance and deliver these programs with various partners.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Clinical Care, the Clinical Director, Work Oriented Clinical Programs will provide strong leadership to managers, health care professionals and administrative staff who report into the program. The Director will work closely with the CAMH Medical Lead in a dyad model to advance the work of the program with partners. The Director will achieve this by collaborating with all stakeholders in the development and articulation of a future-oriented vision for the program and by effectively directing the activities of all of the component units of the program to achieve the stated vision. The Director will ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, health science education and research integration, and the cost-effective management of all financial, clinical, and human resources within the program. The Director also participates in various forums and committees at CAMH and works closely with colleagues in finance and business development to explore new opportunities for the program.

Responsibilities

  • The Director leads a team of managers responsible for multidisciplinary teams, providing guidance and support to mental health professionals, while fostering a patient-centered approach and promoting a culture of continuous improvement in mental health services. They provide strong leadership to inter-professional staff, and administrative staff in alignment with the Mission, Vision and Values of CAMH. The Clinical Director works in a dyad with the Medical Lead for the program. The program includes approximately 35 staff and will grow in the future.

  • The Director leads efforts to ensure excellence in practice and professional standards, quality of care, efficient and effective fiscal resource management, safety and risk management, program planning, change management and service excellence and evaluation.

  • The Director advances the concepts, infrastructures, human resources and relationships required for a programmatic focus. This work involves strong collaborations with leadership colleagues across CAMH, and with partners in the health system to develop and deliver programming that meets the needs of patients and families.

  • The Director is responsible for managing third party-relationships and requirements to ensure the team is meeting operational requirements, achieving financial targets, and pursuing strategic growth opportunities. This includes providing operational oversight of all clinics/services, identifying and leading service expansion opportunities.

  • You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, student learning and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

This position requires an experienced health care leader with both strategic and operational experience in a health care environment. Strong knowledge of or work experience in fee for service or third party funded programs is preferred.  The candidate is a regulated health care professional with a Master’s Degree in a relevant Clinical, Healthcare, or Business discipline from a recognized institution. This position requires a minimum of three to five years of progressive management experience in a health care setting including unionized environments. Clinical experience in mental health, and/or concurrent disorders treatment is preferred.  You have a demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate on programming and program delivery and extensive healthcare experience, with a strong focus on implementation of evidence based practices, outcomes and performance. You have experience delivering programs through effective partnerships with other health care organizations. You will also possess strong negotiation and communication skills, combined with an awareness of professional roles and functions of diverse disciplines within integrated clinical teams, and can effectively liaise with external programs and agencies.

You demonstrate a commitment to safety of both staff and clients. Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and communities is essential. You have demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). In addition, you possess excellent organizational, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work effectively within a dynamic team environment. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Executive Compensation & Benefits:

Salary is competitive and based on experience, with a hiring range of $147,698.95 – $184,623.68 per year.  (based on leadership experience, qualifications, and organizational needs)

Full Salary Range: $147,698.95 – $221,548.42 per year (reflecting progressive growth and leadership tenure within the organization)
