On Time Talent Solutions is seeking a Clinical Documentation Specialist to bridge the gap between the providers and hospital coders to clarify at-risk documentation to ensure accurate claim submission. You will be accountable for reviewing patient medical records in the inpatient and/or outpatient setting to capture an accurate representation of the severity of illness and facilitate proper coding.
Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist Responsibilities:
New acute inpatient admissions to the facility
Review Hospital Acquired Conditions (HAC) and other publicly reported patient quality or safety metrics (i.e. AHRQ Patient Safety Indicators)
Facilitates appropriate clinical documentation to support Hierarchical Condition Categories, ICD-10-CM specificity and medical necessity of ambulatory visits
Identify opportunities in concurrent and retrospective inpatient clinical medical documentation to support quality and effective coding
Conducts record reconciliation and communicates effectively with hospital coding staff to assign a appropriate working DRG
Effectively collaborate and communicate with the hospital coding and denials teams to ensure appropriate CDI practices and accurate application of coding/documentation principals
Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist Qualifications:
An Associate's degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, or Master's degree in Nursing (MNHP or MSN) is required
Professional certification in Clinical Documentation (CCDS, CDEO or Professional Coding Certification (CRC, CPC, or CCS-P)
Two years of recent inpatient nursing experience in a medical, surgical, or ICU setting, and/or recent work experience as a CDI nurse or healthcare quality professional with specific medical record review experience
