About the role
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Software Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and sustainment of mission-critical software solutions within a large-scale cloud and compute environment. The ideal candidate will work across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and operations.
What you'll do
- Design and implement scalable software solutions, including COTS/GOTS integrations.
- Develop and optimize cloud-based applications and distributed systems.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and improve system performance.
- Support Agile development efforts, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
- Develop technical documentation, test plans, SOPs, and system designs.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
- Support system integration, deployment, and sustainment activities.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of software development/engineering experience supporting requirements analysis, development, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
- 6+ years of experience developing in Java, C, or C++.
- 5+ years of experience working in Linux/UNIX environments.
- Experience with software integration, testing, and test automation.
- Strong Java development experience with distributed systems, networking, and multithreading.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Agile methodologies, and modern source control practices.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Ruby, or Perl.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices architectures.
- Active cloud certification required (AWS Certified Developer – Associate, AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional, or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)).
- Ability to support occasional Tier III on-call responsibilities and mission surge requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Apache Hadoop, Accumulo, NiFi, MongoDB, and messaging systems.
- Experience with Spring Framework, Python, and Bash scripting.
- Knowledge of cloud security and compliance best practices.
- Experience supporting AWS, hybrid cloud environments, and large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience developing and deploying solutions in complex enterprise environments.

The pay range for this role is:
240000.00 - 255000.00 USD per year (Annapolis Junction, MD)
