About the role
- We are seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to support mission-critical operations within a highly collaborative Compute Team environment. The ideal candidate will help design, develop, and optimize a large-scale, cloud-native platform supporting data-intensive analytics and distributed computing.
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain cloud-native software solutions using Java within a modern technology ecosystem.
- Design, build, and support scalable distributed systems that process large volumes of mission data.
- Work with technologies including Kubernetes, Hadoop, Accumulo, Docker, and open-source platforms.
- Troubleshoot complex technical challenges and support system performance, integration, and sustainment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while independently driving technical solutions.
- Apply Agile development practices and adapt to evolving mission requirements.
- Support continuous learning and adoption of emerging technologies.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- A Master’s degree in a technical field may substitute for two years of experience.
- Four additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
- 8+ years of software development/engineering experience supporting requirements analysis, development, integration, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Strong Java development experience.
- Experience with database technologies such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with Linux development environments.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Python, and Ansible.
- Experience with distributed data processing frameworks such as Hadoop, Hive, or Pig.
- One or more of the following certifications required:
- AWS Certified Developer – Associate
- AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional
- Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
- Elastic Certified Engineer
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with microservices architectures and container orchestration platforms.
- Experience supporting cloud-native architectures and large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience with Hadoop, Accumulo, Kubernetes, and open-source technologies.
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a mission-focused environment.

The pay range for this role is:
240000.00 - 255000.00 USD per year (Annapolis Junction, MD)
