Job description

We're looking for an outside plant expert to join PRG as a route-based Construction Coordinator. In this role, you'll be the eyes and ears on the ground for our clients' fiber networks — running an assigned route, staying alert to what's happening around it, and keeping small issues from becoming big ones. If you like being outdoors, behind the wheel, and solving problems in the field rather than at a desk, this is built for you.

A DAY IN THE FIELD

  • Receive your daily assignments and plan your route.
  • Drive an assigned fiber route on a recurring basis — this is a route-based role with substantial daily windshield time, so comfort with long stretches of driving is a must.
  • Visit and monitor existing fiber routes, watching for anything that could put the line at risk.
  • Review and reference 811 locate tickets, along with maps and prints, to stay ahead of nearby digging and construction activity.
  • Offer first-level support when minor issues come up, and work to mitigate potential failure points before they escalate.
  • Log and escalate any changes in infrastructure or conditions along the route.
  • Report to the field to verify the quality, accuracy, and adherence of work performed under our scope of work (SOW).
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • A valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • A reliable, well-maintained personal vehicle in clean, professional condition — you're representing PRG and our clients out in the field, so how you show up matters. Mileage reimbursed at the current IRS-approved standard mileage rate.
  • Dependability — you show up on time, every time, and can be counted on to get the job done.
  • Sharp attention to detail, especially when reviewing tickets, maps, and prints.
  • Comfort working independently in the field with minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions — prior outdoor experience is a plus.
  • Physical readiness to walk extensively, bend, sit, stand, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the day.
  • Solid computer proficiency, including comfort with Microsoft tools for reporting and communication.
  • Working knowledge of underground utilities and local dig laws is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of fiber engineering fundamentals.
  • Customer service instincts — you can interpret, communicate, and help deliver on client needs.
  • Sharp organizational skills and the ability to prioritize across multiple assignments.
  • Clear communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to adjust your delivery to your audience.
  • A rain-or-shine mindset — the work continues regardless of weather.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Pay: Commensurate with experience, $30–$35/hour, plus the opportunity to earn an annual bonus.

  • Medical, dental, and vision plans offered for you and your dependents, effective the first of the month following your start date.
  • Company-paid short-term disability benefits after 1 year of service.
  • 401(k) plan effective the first of the month following your start date, with a safe-harbor match after 1 year of service.
  • Supplemental life insurance available for you and your dependents.
  • Shared-cost ClassPass membership.
  • Paid time off and holiday pay.
