- GENERAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT
CONSTRUCTION PROJECT COORDINATORUnder general supervision, plans, schedules and manages various construction projects and activities. Examples of Duties
- Plans and schedules modernization and construction projects and activities to be performed
- according to approved specifications.
- Participates in selecting staff needed to perform work assignments.
- Organizes and delegates work assignments for completion and evaluates work performed.
- Ensures project deadlines and schedules are met.
- Conducts quality control inspection reviews as required and ensures compliance with all code regulations and specifications.
- Maintains and organizes records of projects that are under construction and keeps a daily schedule of progress.
- Completes building and site assessments with reports outlining code violations and needed repairs with budgeted cost and schedule.
- Develops conceptual sites and building plans in preparation for construction documents.
- Monitors and ensures contract administration guidelines and requirements are enforced.
- Completes status and progress reports as require.
- Monitors job sites to ensure safety guidelines and procedures are enforced.
- Completes and submits documentation to secure materials, tools, supplies and other equipment in accordance with approved plans and specifications.
- Confers with management, contractors and others to solicit information and to develop solutions to contractual, staffing and other problems encountered on job sites.
- Maintains and organizes records of housing units that are scheduled for modernization.
- Conducts inspections and prepares status reports on property damage.
- Monitors and estimates cost and budget requirements.
- Participates in community and public meetings for project awareness and obtains information.
- Monitors processing and payment of invoices.
- Assists in developing RFP, RFQ, and RFB documents and specifications, and participates in respondent’s review and selection process.
- Participates in space planning and consolidation planning, review and implementation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction administration, architecture or related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Six years’ experience in contract administration, construction and program / project management or related field including one year experience in municipal government space planning and consolidation, and construction management.
- Two years’ experience and training using Auto-Cad and various computer-related word processing, spreadsheets and database software packages for cost and budget estimates.
Licensing and Certifications
- Valid State of Michigan Operator License required. Employees in this class may be required to operate a motor vehicle on a reimbursed mileage basis.
Equivalency
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis.

Distinguishing Characteristics

RETIREMENT BENEFITS
City Employees Retirement System
As a regular City employee you automatically become a member of the General Retirement System. This entitles you to a retirement allowance after:
• Completion of thirty (30) years of service;- At age sixty (60) if you have at least ten (10) years of service, or- At age sixty-five (65) with eight (8) years of service.• In the event of disability, other eligibility rules apply);- An early, actuarially reduced, retirement is offered after you have attained at least twenty-five (25) years of service;• Employees are vested after ten (10) years of service, regardless of age.
