Job description

Why Join Us:

Johnson Controls is a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization. We help customers use energy more productively, reduce carbon emissions, and operate with the precision and resilience required in demanding manufacturing and technical environments.

Backed by advanced technology, lifecycle services, and an industry-leading field organization, Johnson Controls delivers performance where it really matters and helps move society forward.

What You Will Do:

  • We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support design, integrate, test, and support MES solutions in manufacturing operations, including MES-to-ERP connectivity and shop floor integration, while building practical knowledge of PLC systems and industrial automation.

  • Design, configure, implement, and support MES solutions in manufacturing environments.

  • Participate in MES-to-ERP and shop floor integration activities.

  • Support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and relocation to customer or project sites as required.

  • Develop and maintain custom MES applications, interfaces, and enhancements.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve MES-related issues in production environments.

  • Collaborate with IT, automation, and production teams to support successful deployment and operations.

  • Assist in validation, testing, and deployment of MES solutions.

  • Gain working knowledge of PLC systems and support integration between MES and shop floor equipment.

  • Document system configurations, procedures, and best practices.

  • Provide training and technical support to end users and stakeholders.

How You Will Do It:

  • Own the outcome by working with accountability, safety, and integrity from design through implementation and SAT support.

  • Stay close to the work by partnering with production, automation, and IT teams to remove obstacles quickly and keep operations moving.

  • Improve every day through clear troubleshooting, honest communication, and practical problem-solving that strengthens the MES environment.

  • Win as one team by building trust across functions, sharing knowledge openly, and respecting diverse perspectives during integration and deployment.

  • Use structured testing and documentation to support stable releases, repeatable support, and smooth handoffs.

  • Approach new PLC and automation topics with curiosity and a hands-on mindset so you can expand your technical impact over time.

What We Look For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Proven experience working with MES platforms.

  • Strong background in application development such as .NET, Java, SQL, or similar technologies.

  • Experience with system integration and industrial data exchange.

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and shop floor operations.

  • Willingness to relocate temporarily or permanently for SAT activities.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Exposure to PLC programming or industrial automation systems.

  • Experience with IIoT, SCADA, or industrial connectivity solutions.

  • Knowledge of validation processes in regulated industries.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

What We Can Offer:

  • Competitive salary plus travel time, overtime, standby and call-out payments.

  • Company service vehicle, phone, tablet, PPE and specialist tools.

  • EAP, referral bonuses, cycle-to-work and employee discounts.

  • Industry-leading training and structured career progression.

  • A supportive team culture where your ideas, skills and experience are valued.
