Job Description

Position purpose



Conducting enrichment workshops for students in the CSTEP Program related to critical engineering concepts.



Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks (due to COVID-19, some functions may be conducted virtually):





  1. Providing 15 hours of workshops. Generally, this is expected to be over 5 weeks at 3 hours per week.







  1. Planning and delivering workshop content to the students. The content is expected to be related to a topic that is agreed upon by the instructor and the CSTEP project director. As this is an enrichment opportunity, the students are not expected to do out-of-session work.







  1. Assessing students’ knowledge on the topic through informal assessments.







  1. Prepare students to report their workshop activities in the CSTEP presentation in Vaughn College Technology Day, CSTEP annual Day of Service and to the CSTEP community.







  1. Provide a final progress report to the Assistant Director and Project Director of the CSTEP program.







  1. Participate in faculty meetings related to the CSTEP program.

  1. Education and/or Experience Requirements







  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering/aviation related field. (Master’s/Doctorate preferred.)







  • Engineering/aviation industry experience or engineering/aviation teaching experience within the last 5 years.





 





  1. Professional Skills







  • Ability to write in proper business English;







  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office;







  • Ability to clearly prioritize and organize tasks so that each is completed in an appropriate and timely order.







  • Ability to keep, organize and retrieve detailed records on student enrollment and performance.







  • Ability to delegate and follow up on tasks as appropriate.





 





  1. Reasoning Ability







  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.







  • Ability to understand and follow directions.







  1. Work environment and physical functions





This position is located in an office environment. Generally, an employee needs to be able to sit, stand, and navigate within the office area. The office equipment either individually used or shared with a department is the responsibility of all employees.
