Job description

At Eckler, we know it’s our people that make us great at what we do.

We are seeking a data analyst to join our Employee Benefits (EB1) management team to support our digital transformation. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys working close to the business, understands financial and operational information, and can help turn data into practical insights that support better decision-making.

As we evolve our reporting and planning capabilities, we are looking for someone who can work within the profit centre management team to understand the questions leaders need answered, improve how practice data is organized, and help build tools and dashboards that provide timely, reliable insights. The focus of the role is on building data analysis and reporting tools to make business information easier to access, understand, and act on.

This posting is for a temporary vacancy that we are actively seeking to fill.

Roles and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Associate Director, Practice Management, you will support data analysis, reporting, and the timely preparation of actionable insights across all practices.

You will be part of a small but highly valued team that supports the decisions and strategic initiatives that impact key performance metrics and helps drive sustainable long-term results.

Specific tasks include:

  • Support Management Reporting: Help prepare financial and operational reports for practice leaders, ensuring information is accurate, timely, and easy to use.
  • Reporting Maintenance: Maintain existing reports and support a smooth transition to more automated reporting tools.
  • Build Practical Insight Tools: Help transition key financial and practice reporting from Excel-based processes to tools and dashboards that provide more timely, accessible, and reliable information.
  • Collaboration on Development: Work with internal technology colleagues, where needed, to design, test, and refine dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Analyze & Organize: Identify trends, variances, and key insights within financial and operational data, and organize findings in a clear and practical way.
  • Support Data Quality and Readiness: Assist with data cleanup, validation, and preparation so management reporting is based on accurate, consistent, and well-organized information.
  • Standardize Metrics: Support consistency in how key financial and practice metrics are tracked and reported.
  • Improve Reporting Processes: Look for opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve reporting turnaround times, and make recurring management information easier to produce and use.
  • Process improvement: Seek opportunities to help improve how the practice uses financial and operational data to support decision-making.

What you offer

  • Financial and Business Acumen: Comfort working with a variety of financial and operational information, with an ability to understand what certain numbers and metrics mean for the business.
  • Analytical Curiosity: An interest in understanding trends, drivers, and exceptions in data, and in using those insights to support practical management decisions.
  • Strong Communication Skills: The ability to ask good questions, understand management needs, and explain data and reporting concepts clearly to both business and technical colleagues.
  • Reporting and Visualization Interest: Experience with, or a strong interest in developing, dashboards and reporting tools such as Power BI or similar platforms.
  • Relevant Education or Experience: A background in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, Statistics, or related discipline, or equivalent experience working with business data and reporting.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: The ability to work with imperfect or evolving data and turn it into information that is clean, useful, and actionable.
  • Technical Comfort: Strong Excel skills and comfort learning reporting tools, automation features, and data processes that support better management reporting.
  • Detail Orientation: A commitment to accuracy, consistency, data integrity, and clear documentation.

What we offer:

  • Collaborative and engaging atmosphere
  • Variety in work and ability to evolve and grow your career
  • Working with colleagues across Canada and across multiple practice areas
  • Opportunities to help grow and evolve our practice
  • Competitive total rewards package in terms of salary, bonus and benefits (commensurate with experience level)
  • An entrepreneurial, collegial work environment
  • Hybrid work style and dress for your day approach (3 days in office minimum)
