Job description

Description

Join our Operations Technology Infrastructure Engineering team and help build the invisible scaffolding that powers Amazon's global network and device infrastructure. As a Data Engineer, you'll design and maintain large-scale data systems that enable thousands of Amazonians and guide operations across Amazon's fulfillment network worldwide.

As a Data Engineer on our team, you'll focus on developing and maintaining robust data pipelines that ingest information from diverse sources into our data lake. You'll work on implementing ETL processes that cleanse, transform, and enrich data to support analytical needs across the organization. Your day involves partnering with network engineering teams to grasp their data requirements, designing scalable solutions, and ensuring data quality through governance and security measures. You'll also monitor our data systems to identify and resolve issues promptly, keeping our infrastructure running smoothly. Beyond routine tasks, you'll participate in architectural discussions, evaluate data solutions proposed by peers, and contribute to evolving our data engineering practices as technologies and industry standards advance.


Key job responsibilities
- Develop and maintain data pipelines that ingest data from various sources into our data lake, implementing ETL processes to cleanse, transform, and enrich data for analytical purposes
- Design scalable data solutions focusing on performance, quality, and reliability while partnering with cross-functional teams to comprehend business requirements
- Implement data quality controls, metadata management, and data lineage tracking to ensure data integrity, compliance, and accessibility across the organization
- Establish data governance and security measures to protect delicate information and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Monitor data infrastructure to identify and resolve issues promptly, maintaining high availability and reliability of our data systems

We are a team dedicated to delivering flexible, low-touch, cost-efficient infrastructure products by leveraging data, analytics, and automation. Our systems reach across all global core services and infrastructure within Operations Technology, enabling over 100,000 Amazonians and all Amazon fulfillment centers worldwide. We're building solutions that require minimal long-term maintenance while solving complex infrastructure challenges. Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent
- Proficient in Python development
- Experience with big data technologies (Spark/Hadoop)

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
