About the Department

THIS IS A PROMOTIONAL RECRUITMENT FOR CURRENT PERMANENT EMPLOYEES ONLY.
EXTERNAL CANDIDATES, SUBSTITUTE AND/OR CASUAL EMPLOYEES NEED NOT APPLY.

DEFINITION
To perform a variety of responsible technical tasks relative to the installation, training and development of computer information services.
 
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from the Director of Data Processing.

Position Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  1. Secures timely accurate attendance reports from schools, compiling data, and proofing reports. Prepare periodic department, district, county and state reports. (P1, P2, P3, EOM Enrollment, and Class Size Averages.)
  2. Assist Director of Data Processing with the analysis, development and implementation of data processing systems.
  3. Assist in the installation of computer systems.
  4. Review and understand all software application used in the District.
  5. Training of staff and technical support in the use of computer software.
  6. Development of computerized reports by structuring program applications to specific needs.
  7. Prepare and update District street guide.
  8. Organize and maintain departmental records, forms, files, and documents.
  9. Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

Any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Two years of increasingly responsible experience in school district data processing.
 
Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in computer technology or a related field.

Examination
The examination components consist of a qualifying written multiple-choice, performance, and oral exam.  
Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be required to take the exam and are notified via email communication of the scheduled date, time, and location.  A valid picture identification is required prior to admittance.  

After the exam procedure concludes for this recruitment, an eligibility list will be established to fill future vacancies.  
TENTATIVE EXAM DATE:  Week of September 14, 2026.

Work Schedule:
This position typically works full-time, 8 hours/day; 40 hour/week, and observes a 12-month work calendar.

Salary and Benefits
The salary rate for a new employee is at the first step of the appropriate five-step salary schedule for this position.  The probationary period is 130 work days (not counting sick, industrial accident).   Upon becoming permanent, a one-step salary advance shall be granted with future annual advances up to the fifth step of the salary schedule.

Holidays and Leaves
Seventeen (17) paid holidays that fall within the work year, pursuant to the District's Collective Bargaining Agreement with California Schools Employees Association Chapter 296 (CSEA).  

Sick leave shall be granted in the proportion of daily hours worked. Vacation is earned at the prescribed rate as part of compensation, and does not become vested until after completion of the initial probationary period.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job is primarily performed in an indoor climate-controlled environment, and require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead and horizontally; dexterity of hand and fingers to manipulate materials, writing instruments, computer keyboard/mouse; see and hear sufficiently in normal range with or without correction; speaking for exchange of information. Potential exposures to adverse weather conditions when walking to and from automobile or between buildings, indoor/outdoor fumes and odors.
