POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Data Visualization Advisor is responsible for developing business intelligence applications, reports, dashboards, and queries that provide relevant, timely and insightful information to support data-driven decision making and improve operational performance for FedEx Office. This role is a key resource for driving Power BI implementation, governance, and upskilling, working in partnership with cross-functional teams of data analytics developers, analysts, and testers to empower them to apply automation to alleviate manual reporting efforts, maintain data quality, increase data literacy, and create compelling visualizations. Key responsibilities include supporting full lifecycle Power BI administration including advising and directly supporting data owners and report developers. The Data Visualization Advisor will help define the strategic direction of the Org Data Strategy team in supporting the growing needs around data driven decision making for FedEx Office and high priority data transformation initiatives.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with and advise IT developers, functional and technical SMEs, and testers to understand, translate, and solve key business challenges while conveying key insights using data visualization approaches, techniques, and methods
  • Coordinate and manage “reporting as a service” across FedEx Office and guide business teams in efforts to optimize data quality, data flow, collection, modeling, and visualizations for functional teams.
  • Key resource, advisor, and coordinator for departmental report rationalization, data visualization, dashboards, and Power BI utilization, troubleshooting, and best practices; providing technical and user support as needed
  • Oversees the onboarding and training process for the Power BI platform; working with community of experts to problem solve and facilitate additional ways of using Power BI platform to improve workflow and efficiencies
  • Develop intuitive, attractive, and interactive data visualizations extracting large, complex data sets from a variety of data sources and systems, performing data manipulation, and cleansing best practices to prep data for visualization
  • Develop reports, dashboards & scorecards, data exploration, and visual analytics using existing and emerging technologies and tools
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to promote adoption of BI and data visualization with functional teams and leadership by showing the mechanics, benefits, and capabilities to each engaged stakeholder group to enable the effective management of data within their area of responsibility
  • Key resource in ongoing code reviews and ensures consistent quality and adherence to policies, procedures, and data standards while troubleshooting and remediating data integrity or workflow issues
  • Access and utilize data on cloud, while partnering and consulting with subject matter experts to gather requirements, prepare, and curate relevant data sets to be utilized by the business
  • Effectively utilize APIs, data delivery services, and frameworks that consume data from different sources and supports critical operational and analytical applications
  • Applies effective data visualization techniques and psychological tactics to drive the audience to effectively interpret, drill down, and extract meaningful insights
  • Serve as trusted advisor to Enterprise and FedEx Office BI experts to escalate needs and identify existing and emerging technology, tools, and solutions to address business challenges

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Visualization, Management Information Systems, Applied Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • 6+ years’ experience implementing and advising on BI and analytics solutions to assist in business performance metric tracking, data mining, provisioning, data storytelling, and report publishing
  • 3+ years development experience with Microsoft Power BI strongly preferred
  • Project and/or consulting experience with requirements gathering and implementing business intelligence and analytics solutions in corporate and/or client-facing environment preferred
  • Significant Microsoft Power BI experience including PowerQuery data modelling, DAX language expertise, Microsoft SQL Server queries, and visualization
  • Highly analytical strategic mindset with an ability to think broadly, refine questions, and develop actionable intelligence
  • Expert understanding of dashboarding, mashups, pivot tables, and lists, bar graphs, line graphs, box and whisker plots, tree maps, scatterplots, histograms, Pareto charts, control charts, small multiples, sparklines, and when such visualizations should be used.
  • Experience configuring tenants and tenant administration abilities (APIs)
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and demonstrated experience working in a team-oriented environment
  • Storytelling with data across a variety of tools (Power BI, PPT, Excel, etc.)
  • Knowledge of technical infrastructure, including cloud environments
  • Proven experience delivering timely, high quality, senior manager-level reporting, and analysis from diverse, complex data sources.
