Our Client a leading bank in Asia with a global network of more than 500 branches and offices in 19 countries and territories in Asia Pacific, Europe and North America are looking for Consultants to be part of the project

The Technology and Operations function is comprised of five teams of specialists with distinct capabilities: business partnership, technology, operations, risk governance and planning support and services. They work closely together to harness the power of technology to support our physical and digital banking services and operations. This includes developing, centralising and standardising technology systems as well as banking operations in Malaysia and overseas branches.

The client has more than 80 years of history in the banking industry and is expanding its footprint in Malaysia.
The selected resource will be working in a newly setup technology centre located in Kuala Lumpur as part of Technology and Operations to deliver innovative financial technology solutions that enable business growth and technology transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle, MySQL, and MariaDB database environments.
  • Perform database build activities and support database infrastructure provisioning.
  • Resolve database and third-party product-related build issues.
  • Ensure database security, compliance, and hardening standards are implemented.
  • Perform database performance tuning and query optimization during build and deployment phases.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot database resource utilization including CPU, memory, I/O, and disk space.
  • Manage database backup, restore, and recovery operations.
  • Configure and maintain High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
  • Support Oracle RAC, Data Guard (DG), Active Data Guard (ADG), and SQL Server Always On environments.
  • Perform database migration, patching, and upgrade activities.
  • Troubleshoot database incidents and perform root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and project teams during implementation and deployment activities.
  • Maintain database operational documentation and standards.

Skills

Must have

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA).
  • Oracle/SQL/ MariaDB Database software installation, upgrades and maintenance
  • Resolve build issues with database or related third party products.
  • Maintain database security and compliance, ensuring that databases are properly hardened. Perform database performance tuning and query optimization during the build phase.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Oracle & SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.
  • Experience of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands
  • Proven skills and experience in setting up HA/DR solution for Oracle (RAC, DG & ADG) and SQL Server (Always ON)
  • Experience of RMAN, expdp/impdp

Nice to have

  • Sybase database administration.
