CIO Infrastructure Services (CIS) is growing, and we invite both our experienced incumbents and new team members to be part of what’s next. Incumbents bring invaluable mission insight, while new talent adds fresh ideas and energy. Together, we’ll strengthen continuity and drive the next generation of innovation.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Database Administrator supporting CIS, you will sustain and enhance enterprise grade database services that underpin critical applications across multiple environments. You will manage clustered and standalone SQL platforms, optimize performance, enforce secure configurations, and ensure high availability and data integrity. Your work strengthens reliability, scalability, and informed decision making across complex mission enabling systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise SQL Server clustered platforms and standalone databases, ensuring availability, performance, and reliability
  • Manage backup/restore, replication, disaster recovery, failover testing, and recovery operations for high availability database services
  • Monitor database capacity, performance metrics, licensing, service levels, and health; provide monthly analysis and recommendations
  • Perform database migrations, upgrades, lifecycle management, consolidation, and integration of new requirements into DBaaS environments
  • Provide database access management, permissions, and controlled elevation for application owners and administrators
  • Troubleshoot SQL related issues across infrastructure, application, and storage layers; deliver technical guidance to application teams
  • Create and maintain database documentation, configuration baselines, SOPs, and security relevant artifacts supporting accreditation and compliance
  • Evaluate and test new SQL Server releases, backup/recovery platforms, replication technologies, and database tooling for enterprise adoption
  • Apply SQL Server, OS level, and database platform security patches within required timelines using approved tools and automated deployment processes; maintain configuration and vulnerability compliance
  • Identify and remediate noncompliant database systems; analyze root causes, verify POA&M actions, and provide security status updates and metrics

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field or 10+ years of relevant IT experience in lieu of a degree
  • CERTIFICATION: Meet DoD 8140 Information Assurance Workforce certification requirements (e.g., Security+ CE, etc.)
  • CLEARANCE: Active TS/SCI clearance with a favorable polygraph
  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server administration, clustering, high availability, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and DR/COOP operations
  • Strong understanding of database security, STIG compliance, access control, and change management
  • Proficiency with SQL, PowerShell, and enterprise monitoring/reporting tools
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues spanning databases, infrastructure, and applications
  • Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
  • US citizenship required
  • LOCATION: Onsite
