Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Security Installation Engineer ready to take the next step into a pivotal Design Engineer role within our expanding design delivery team. You’ll bring your hands‑on installation knowledge into the full design lifecycle, shaping early requirements, ensuring compliance with client security standards and local codes, and producing construction‑ready designs deployed across Europe.

In this role, you become a trusted extension of our client’s own team. You will own the design, uphold technical and security standards, and maintain clear, confident communication with all stakeholders. You’ll work closely with the client’s appointed integrator and carry out occasional site visits across Europe to validate installation quality, benchmark designs, and ensure real‑world conditions align with design intent.

Your installation background will give you the practical insight needed to create designs that truly work on the ground, making you an invaluable link between concept and delivery.

Infrequent site visits are required to perform quality checks on behalf of the end client; this will include travel to sites within Europe.

  • Support and manage the full design process from concept to delivery.
  • Apply an initial understanding of CAD and BIM workflows.
  • Check, validate, and sign off designs at key project checkpoints.
  • Lead all engineering aspects of the design, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide technical support and respond to RFIs promptly.
  • Use design management platforms such as BIM360.
  • Manage your workload and diary in line with project milestones and client needs.
  • Read, produce, and verify specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and all design documentation.
  • Understand core physical security systems to ensure compliant, high‑quality designs.
  • Conduct site visits before, during, and after design phases—including overseas travel.
  • Benchmark designs against real‑world site conditions and installations.
  • Perform QA/QC checks on installation work, engaging with integrators to drive corrective actions.
  • Travel to sites when required to resolve RFIs or validate design decisions.
  • Capture and maintain a lessons‑learned register, sharing insights with the wider business.
  • Collaborate closely with the design team to meet deadlines and uphold standards.
  • Ensure all designs meet internal and client‑defined security and quality benchmarks.
  • Attend design kick‑off meetings and regular design sync calls (remote or in‑person).
  • Maintain all relevant professional certifications.
  • Work cross‑functionally with other departments to uphold shared standards.
  • Maintain strong relationships with third‑party suppliers supporting the design function.
  • Stay current with emerging security technologies and industry trends.
