Would you like to be part of our specialist services group, who have been providing engineering support to space agencies and prime contractors for more than 40 years? For our customer, the European Space Agency (ESA), we are seeking an experienced DevOps & Infrastructure Engineer (Linux/Cloud) to work at ESA’s ESTEC site in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

 

Your role in our team 

You will run and support a Linux-based environment used for engineering work. The main task is managing and keeping key applications working: Jira/Confluence, OwnCloud, Gitea, Discourse, and FreeIPA. You will install, configure, fix issues, and provide direct end-user support for these applications. You will also take care of backups, updates, basic maintenance, and everyday troubleshooting. 

How you will make a meaningful contribution

Key responsibilities include:

• Incident management and troubleshooting
• Capacity planning and performance tuning
• Support for application migrations to new infrastructure

• Documentation and knowledge sharing via wikis or SharePoint
• User support via helpdesk or Jira tickets

Bring your world class expertise into play

Technical Skills:
• Linux server administration (RedHat Enterprise Linux, Docker)
• Network knowledge (DNS, firewalls, NAT, subnets, Nginx)

• Monitoring and logging (Zabbix, Syslog)
• Security operations: patch management, vulnerability scanning, compliance with ESA guidelines
• Automation tooling: Ansible, AWX, scripting, GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes
• Technical application management: in general, with preferred experience in Atlassian Jira/Confluence

Soft Skills:
• Strong communication skills, both towards end-users and ESA/ESTEC stakeholders
• Proactive in identifying issues and improvement opportunities

• Experience working in an ITIL-based environment or similar service processes

• Some project management experience (desirable)

Desired Background:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s-level working and thinking capability in Computer Science, System Administration, or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a comparable role

• Experience with ESA/ESTEC or other European research institutions is considered an asset

This is a full-time position located at ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The foreseen start of work is February 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
