For many years, Devereux Massachusetts has primarily served students with various complex psychological, emotional, and behavioral disorders in residential and group home settings. Devereux’s new Medically Complex Program is designed to serve youth with complex medical needs who require 24-hour nursing care, and are therefore not able to safely reside in a home setting. Many youth in this program, although they have many strengths and abilities, do present with sensory impairments, Intellectual Disabilities, physical impairments, self-care skill deficits, or conditions that require use of medical equipment. We use an interdisciplinary team approach to meet the unique needs of each youth and we provide them with enriching, fun, and diverse opportunities to grow and learn. Our goal is to help each child in our care reach their full potential.

As the Direct Support Professional, you will:

  • Be passionate about working with and helping youth with complex medical needs.
  • Be responsible for the safety and security of all youth as assigned by providing direct supervision.
  • Assist youth with ADLs such as room cleaning, chores, laundry, personal hygiene.
  • When required, assist youth with personal care skills such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
  • Take and record vital signs like temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and provide wound care.
  • Provide student transportation to/from medical appointments.
  • Assist youth with transferring, walking, and using mobility aids like wheelchairs or walkers

Working at Devereux has its advantages!

You will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need. We offer you the privilege of being able to work closely with some of the most vulnerable people in our community, help build their strengths, and truly make a contribution to improving their lives.
