Job Description
For over 60 years, Walker Therapeutic and Educational Programs is a leading non-profit organization providing comprehensive programming in the fields of child welfare, children’s behavioral health, and special education. We proudly serve over 150 communities in MA, with our clients coming from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, who struggle predominantly with anxiety and trauma. These services are offered through; Residential, CBAT, and Intensive Treatment Programs, Special Education Day School, Therapeutic Middle-High School, Out-Patient and In-Home Therapeutic Services.
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Principal, the Educational Coordinator will assure the development and implementation of academic curriculum in accordance with state frameworks; oversee academic assessment for individual students, including statewide assessments (MCAS) and educational assessments, etc.; coordinate curriculum materials and supplies; assist in training school staff regarding issues of curriculum and program development; assist in teacher hiring, orientation, and professional development; work with school leadership team to develop the calendar for school-wide events, special programs, and assemblies; work with other supervisors to ensure that the physical appearance of the school buildings reflects the values and programming of the school; work in close cooperation with the multidisciplinary team to ensure alignment and consistency in treatment and programming.

Essential Functions for this position include:
•Oversight of 3 classrooms including all program, student, and personnel issues.
•Work with educational and child care supervisors in the school program, as well as the clinical and residential teams, to ensure integration and smooth operation of school program.
•Responsible for development and implementation of school curriculum in accordance with MA Curriculum Frameworks and individual student IEPs.
•Develop and maintain classroom schedules and groups, including spaces for groups.
•Conduct educational assessments for new students and for re-evaluations. Write reports which share observations, as well as results of testing and recommendations (Summary of Impressions; Educational Assessments).
•Work with teachers to write IEPs (and educational assessments when indicated), and prepare teachers to present at meetings. Attend meetings as needed to support teachers.
•Assist in training school staff regarding issues of curriculum and program development;
•Assist in teacher hiring, orientation, and professional development.
•Work with school leadership team to develop calendar for school-wide events, special programs, and assemblies.
•Work with other supervisors to ensure that the physical appearance of the school buildings reflects the values and programming of the school.
•Working in close cooperation with the management team to ensure alignment and consistency in treatment and programming.
Qualifications:
Required: M.Ed. with Massachusetts’s certification in Special Education
3-5 years special education teaching experience with similar population.
Supervisory/administrative experience
Supervision: Will report directly to the School Principal
