Job description

Westerman, Inc., an employee-owned company, is a multiple site manufacturer of production and storage equipment within the oil, gas, and nuclear industries. Our equipment helps optimize well pad design, improve separation efficiency and lower overall equipment spend through high-performance surface separation and processing technology. Our equipment is setting new standards for performance and economics nationwide.



 



SUMMARY



The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager has primary responsibility for managing the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) processes for the facility. Promotes EHS awareness with the emphasis on preventing incidents and protecting the environment. Responsible for recognizing and assessing hazards in the workplace and recommending corrective measures. Works with plant personnel and Corporate Leadership to ensure compliance with applicable regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and implementation of best practices. Manages internal EHS systems and completes required reports and notifications. Functions as Administrator of internal EHS systems supporting all users. Conducts EHS training and coaching as necessary.



RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides guidance and support implementing improvement of safety and environmental performance across the facility.

  • Responsible for developing and implementing cost reduction and continuous improvement projects.

  • Ensures EHS systems are implemented and maintained effectively, including SDS management systems.

  • Ensures compliance with all EHS related laws and regulations. (OSHA, EPA, NESHAP) by completing required reports and submitting them to the appropriate regulating body on time. Maintains injury records and posts safety related information as required. Maintains written programs to ensure they are up to date and follow Corporate models.

  • Manages environmental permits and ensures proper completion of records and reports.

  • Updates and maintains SDS database to ensure all records are up to date and available to employees.

  • Educates employees on the regulatory standards applicable to the facility. Instructs all employees on internal EHS policy and procedures. Ensures required safety and environmental training has been identified and completed for new and existing employees.

  • Ensures all job functions have appropriate risk assessments completed using Safety Failure Modes & Effect Analysis (SFMEA) or Job Hazard Analysis (JHA). Implements appropriate measures to minimize risk including the use of engineering controls where possible. Ensures all necessary personal protective equipment has been identified and is used as required. Coordinates all necessary industrial health and audiometric monitoring.

  • Manages, supports, and provides direction to the safety committee.

  • Completes internal incident notifications in accordance with company policy.

  • Ensures all hazardous areas and conditions are identified and communicated to employees using appropriate visual and audio techniques.

  • Communicates performance toward company goals for safety and the environment. Interfaces with external regulatory contacts (Federal, State, and Local) as necessary.

  • Provides input regarding vendor selection and contract management. Responsible for building relationships and maintaining vendor relations once the vendor is selected by the purchasing department.

  • Oversees local incident investigation process to identify root causes. Ensures proper documentation of findings and implementation of corrective actions. Enforces company policy related to drug testing and disciplinary action.

  • Provides support to other EHS Managers within Westerman Inc. during incident investigations to identify root causes and develop Corrective Actions.

  • Responsible for all aspects of Workers Compensation Claims at the local facility. Provides Workers Compensation support to EH&S Managers at other facilities within Westerman Inc.

  • Other duties as required and assigned

REQUIREMENTS




  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related EHS/Safety experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Continuing education required (ISO Training, OTJ, Regulatory Training)

  • OSHA 30

  • Strong leadership and management skills

  • Strong organization and record keeping skills

  • Solid understanding of safety policies and procedures

  • Able to effectively communicate with all levels of plant personnel

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)

  • Able to present material to groups

  • Strong knowledge of environmental, health and safety compliance

  • Must use fingers and hands to manipulate/utilize office machines.

  • Must be able to walk over both even and uneven surfaces.

  • Some aspects of this position may require close vision, depth perception, the ability to see small detail, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to travel by car and airplane as needed.

  • Driving is an essential function of this position; clean driving record is required.
