Job Description

About the job:

Callisto is seeking enthusiastic 3rd Year Electrical Apprentices to join our team supporting the ITA2 Project at the Kearl Site near Fort McKay, Alberta. Reporting to the Electrical Foreman and working under the supervision of Journeyperson Electricians, you will gain valuable industrial construction experience while progressing toward your trade certification. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build practical skills on one of Alberta’s major industrial construction projects.

 

 

Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

 

Construction Activities

  • Assist with the installation of conduit, cable tray, cable, grounding systems, lighting, and electrical equipment.
  • Support cable pulling, equipment installation, and electrical terminations.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools required for electrical construction.
  • Assist with material handling and job site preparation.
  • Learn to interpret construction drawings and electrical schematics.

 

Learning & Development

  • Develop industrial electrical construction skills through hands-on experience.
  • Work closely with Journeypersons to build technical knowledge.
  • Participate in training and apprenticeship development.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement and a willingness to learn.

 

Teamwork

  • Support the electrical crew in completing work safely and efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Contribute to a respectful, positive work environment.

 

Safety

  • Follow all Callisto safety procedures and project requirements.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings and hazard assessments.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions immediately.

 

 

Your knowledge/skills, education and experience:

Knowledge/Qualification/Training/Certification:

  • Registered Alberta 3rd Year Electrical Apprentice (or recognized Canadian provincial equivalent).
  • Valid CSTS 2020 and WHMIS certification.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical construction practices.
  • Commitment to completing apprenticeship training.
  • Previous industrial or commercial electrical experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in remote camp environments is an asset.

Details about the role:

Location: Kearl Site, Fort McKay, Alberta

Rotation: 14 days on / 7 days off, 10-hour shifts

Camp: Camp accommodation and meals provided at Wapasu

Transportation: Charter flights provided from Calgary or Edmonton only
