The Electrical Apprentice supports licensed Electricians in performing a variety of electrical construction tasks, including pulling cable, installing devices, reading blueprints, and repairing electrical systems. This entry-level position works under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Electrician and is required to enroll in a 4-year Department of Labor (DOL) Registered Apprenticeship Program. The apprentice must demonstrate safe work practices, proper tool handling, and a willingness to learn. Responsibilities also include assisting with material handling, equipment setup, and basic installations. Travel to job sites may be required. Pay is based on experience and progression within the apprenticeship program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Electrical Tasks & Jobsite Readiness:

  • Handle and stage materials, equipment and tools
  • Assist with layout, wire pulls and installation
  • Assist with cable tray installations, device installations, and lighting connections
  • Identify and eliminate hazardous conditions at the job site
  • Maintain the job site in a safe, neat and orderly condition
  • Safely operate hand and power tools
  • Legally operate company vehicles and equipment

Training:

  • Receive On-the-job learning (OJL) as part of the apprenticeship program
  • Attend class & make satisfactory progress with apprenticeship program completion

Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination:

  • Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task. 
  • Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention. 
  • Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support goal of achieving zero accidents. 
  • Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed. 
  • Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel. 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Evidence of High School Diploma or GED; high school transcript, if necessary
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Experience, Skill and Abilities

  • Positive safety attitude and personal integrity – both are non-negotiable
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong self-motivation, work ethic, and drive for career growth

Physical Requirements

  • Job requires working in indoor and all outdoor elements (rain, snow, heat, etc.)
  • Must always keep work tools with them (work belt, bag, etc.)
  • Use all types of ladders including step ladders up to 14’feet, “A” Frame and all size extension ladders and relocate a 12’ ladder by oneself
  • Perform work at various heights, up to 90’ from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, and cat walks and be able to work in restricted areas
  • Lift at least 50 pounds
  • Constant moving on your feet
