Job Summary:
The Electrical Designer is responsible for supporting electrical and instrumentation design efforts for pump stations, meter stations, compressor stations, and pipeline-related projects. This position develops accurate design drawings and wiring and installation details for electrical equipment and instrumentation. The role requires close collaboration within Strike’s EPC Services group and across multiple disciplines to produce complete, construction-ready design packages.
Primary Job Functions:
  • Assist engineers and the lead designer with initial design concepts, drawing requirements, and project deliverables.
  • Develop plans, details, and sections that clearly communicate construction and fabrication requirements.
  • Review, check, and back-check drawings produced by drafting personnel for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate, review, and incorporate vendor-supplied drawings and required information into project drawing packages.
  • Apply the National Electrical Code (NEC) and perform calculations related to sizing electrical circuits and equipment.
  • Develop wiring and installation drawings for electrical equipment and instrumentation, including Rosemount transmitters, Limitorque MOVs, signal routing to junction boxes with feed-through terminal blocks, and power routing to pull boxes, junction boxes, or breaker panels.

  • Manage limited conduit-routing space on skids while ensuring proper boundary seals and Class I, Division 1 conduit placement when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience creating I&E drafting/design drawings for facilities, preferably including meter stations, pump stations, launcher/receivers, mainline valves, compressor stations, and as-built drawings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Education/Training:
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Technology, or a related field.
Competencies:
  • Knowledge of hazardous area electrical systems.
  • Proficiency with the current release of AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of standard design and drafting practices, with the ability to work efficiently and accurately.
  • Experience working with large motors, VFDs, MCCs, raceway systems, industrial lighting, and grounding.
  • Experience with instrumentation, hazardous location wiring practices, panel design, and PLC hardware.
  • 5+ years of design experience.
  • 3+ years of AutoCAD experience.
  • 3+ years of experience within the Engineering and Construction industry.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English sufficient to perform essential job functions. Additional language skills may be considered based on business need.

  • Must be willing to travel to project sites to collect field data.
  • May be required to travel overnight or be out of town for multiple days at a time.
  • Comply with Strike’s policies and procedures.
  • Comply with Strike’s Drug & Alcohol Policy and maintain favorable drug testing results throughout employment.
  • Perform work safely with respect for others, property, and personal safety.
