Job Description: Electrical Engineering – Hardware Design Co-op

Location: Cambridge, ON | On-site
Job Type: Co-op
Compensation: $22 - $26/hour

The Position

Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, the Electrical Engineering – Hardware Design Co-op will support the development of electrical designs for custom automation equipment. Working alongside experienced electrical designers and engineers, this role will contribute to design documentation, calculations, redlines, and integration support while learning Eclipse standards, customer specifications, and applicable electrical and safety requirements.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assist with the creation of electrical designs based on customer and project requirements using Eclipse standards and templates
  • Support engineering calculations, including short-circuit current ratings and panel heat loss/cooling requirements
  • Update electrical drawings, complete redlines, and maintain accurate design documentation
  • Provide electrical support during various stages of equipment integration, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Learn from experienced engineers and technical leaders while building knowledge in electrical design, safety standards, and automation systems
  • Contribute to a variety of custom automation projects, each with unique technical challenges and customer requirements
  • Grow with us: this co-op is designed as a pathway toward an Electrical Design role, with opportunities to expand technical expertise and take on greater responsibility over time

  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electromechanical Engineering, Industrial Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • A strong interest in automation, industrial electrical systems, and hands-on technical learning
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand technical drawings, schematics, and equipment layouts
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn new technical skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety and quality
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics and wiring principles is considered an asset
  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD Electrical, or other CAD software is considered an asset
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to contribute
  • Students must be enrolled in a post-secondary academic program requiring a co-op/work term
