Job description

Job Overview

We are looking for a high-energy Electrical Prod & System Development Technician to support the Vehicle Operability North America (VONA) team in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. This role sees a high volume of daily work and new issues arise constantly, so the ability to multitask and shift priorities quickly is a must. The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, stays organized amid competing demands, and brings a sense of urgency to solving problems as they come up.

VONA is responsible for triaging electrical issues on engineering development vehicles. The Electrical Prod & System Development Technician is responsible for diagnosing vehicle mechanical and electrical problems, repairing and rebuilding equipment, and replacing electrical components on vehicles and equipment. In addition, the Technician is responsible for attaching test equipment and instrumentation to road test vehicles and driving the vehicles under usual and routine conditions. Responsibilities also include bench fabrication of vehicle wire harnesses and overlays as well as in-vehicle wiring modifications, testing set up and execution for electrical component development and validation, high voltage battery performance, and vehicle system validation, as well as assisting development and validation engineers with troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues at the component and system levels.




Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree in Auto Mechanics or a similar discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a mechanic
  • Must have a valid driver’s license (no more than 2 points on driving record, no more than one at-fault accident within the last two years, and no DUIs or DWIs)
  • Working knowledge of electrical/electronic systems and measurement equipment, including meters, oscilloscopes, data acquisition equipment, etc.
  • CAN logging and bus analysis experience
  • Savvy with Chrysler Diagnostic Application (CDA) and other diagnostic tools (e.g., Dianalyzer, Diagalyser)
  • Must be able to triage wiring issues and understand wiring schematics
  • Must be able to read and interpret electrical feature functional requirements to support triage
  • Must support the diagnosis of complex electrical issues
  • Experienced in fabrication/modification of vehicle wire harnesses
  • Experienced in test set up and execution for development and validation purposes
  • Familiarity with vehicle electrical architectures and diagnostic tools

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ASE certification preferred; must be familiar with a variety of tools (hand, bench, and machine)
  • Fabrication skills, including the ability to assemble, disassemble, adjust, and repair vehicle components and systems; basic machining capabilities are a plus
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office)
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Flexible to work on 1st or 2nd shift (3rd if needed), as well as weekends and holidays
