Instrumentation Operations Engineers are responsible for integrating requirements and programming new instrumentation data acquisition equipment, FTI fiber system, analog and digital signal conditioning hardware during integration and flight test. Works independently or leads a team to execute project, schedule, and technical requirements to meet the goals of the test program.

Oversees installation, checkout, and calibration of data systems, to ensure collected data can be properly displayed, processed, and analyzed. Maintains configuration control, and mission capability of the instrumentation system as well as all associated ground support equipment.

Responsible for specification, selection, design, integration, operation and maintenance of airborne data acquisition systems, and their related components. This includes telemetry, flight test specific hardware, or prototypes for flight test evaluation.

Support preflight, post-flight, and control room activities for all scheduled missions.

Interface with test ops, maintenance, and management to ensure all instrumentation requirements are coordinated and accounted for.

Must be able to demonstrate strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, excellent communicative skills, and the ability to work independently or with a team to execute project, schedule, and technical requirements to meet the goals of the test program.

Must be willing to work extended hours, off-shift, and weekends as necessary and support occasional travel as required by the Test Program.

**Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.**

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience/combined education

Ability to develop, test, and troubleshoot data acquisition systems and other instrumentation devices

Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and process specifications

Proficient in troubleshooting techniques and tools, including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and other common laboratory equipment

 

Desired Skills

Experience planning, coordinating, and executing instrumentation modifications

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Candidate must work well individually and with team members across multiple organizations

Aircraft systems operations experience

Previous experience with Curtiss-Wright, Safran, or similar instrumentation hardware and flight test instrumentation operations

Background in related specialties: signal conditioning, transducers, data acquisition, video protocols and compression, GPS, IRIG 106, and avionics bus protocols such as MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, IEEE 1394, Ethernet, and Fiber Channel

Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00
