Job Description
The Software and Ground Solutions group at BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) is looking to expand our team with a talented and energetic software engineer focused on delivering high-quality, embedded satellite software and associated test infrastructure. This position supports a portfolio of software programs. Technology areas include software development integration and test, CI/CD, and Containerization.

What You’ll Do:
- Support design, development, integration and testing of an enterprise ground system.
- Apply technical expertise and knowledge of satellite ground system domains to integrate custom built software applications with industry standard applications to deliver fully functional enterprise ground systems.
- Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
- Interface effectively with people at all levels and from different areas, seek out responsibilities and opportunities to contribute, regularly meets with customers, provide leadership to groups and teams and guidance to less experienced employees.
- Prepare and give presentations to peers/management/customers.
- Support program gates as defined by customer, such as the System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR).
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Skills and Education
- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active Secret clearance is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
- Knowledge of systems engineering roles and functions, including operations concept development, requirements management, functional analysis, interface definition and control, synthesis, and/or verification and validation.
- Hands on experience in developing and maintaining Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Experience in cloud development environments.
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Ruby.
- Experience with Atlassian Tools such as Confluence and Jira.

- Any experience in mission management, command & control, mission data processing, ground terminal and infrastructure domains.
- Knowledge of related disciplines in software engineering, hardware engineering, integration, test engineering, quality engineering, configuration/data management.
- Any experience with any ground or mission integration including operations readiness activities, rehearsals and launch support activities.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) SysML diagrams (Block Diagrams, Internal Block Diagrams, State Machines, Activity Diagrams and Sequence Diagrams).
- Experience with requirements management tool like Jama or DOORS.
- Any experience with satellite operations.
