Job description

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

A Knowledge Transfer Engineer (KTE) participates in the Knowledge Transfer Program (KTP). The KTE must be willing to relocate to another state in support of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This program supports mission critical national security initiatives by providing Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) personnel the opportunity to engage in cross site collaboration and strengthen technical capabilities essential to pit production operations and related programs.

The remote assignment is at a minimum of 2 years for a total of a 4 year commitment that includes the remaining time at the Savannah River Site (SRS). At LANL, the KTE would be involved in the performance of various engineering work that could be in operations, production, manufacturing, construction, deactivation & decommissioning, or maintenance. They develop and apply engineering standards and procedures and provide advice on issues within the engineering field. They may design and scale up manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment and tests manufactured products to maintain quality. They may plan, design, and estimate time and cost and oversees construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, systems, and components. They may analyze and develop solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures.

This job family could involve multiple disciples such as but not limited to Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Process, Metallurgical, Manufacturing, Systems, Industrial, Fire Protection, Criticality Safety Engineering, Information Technology/Operational Technology, etc.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Utilize strong interpersonal skills to facilitate communication, negotiate agreements, collaborate effectively, and build consensus among team members and key stakeholders.
• Report and communicate analytical data in a clear and meaningful way to key stakeholders.
• Understand, apply, and communicate engineering fundamentals in a clear and meaningful way to key stakeholders.
• Documenting knowledge gained during the assignment and contributing to post-assignment knowledge transfer activities at SRNS.
• Support mission-aligned technical activities. These activities will vary depending on the role and discipline determined by the LANL customer. Examples can be given during application process.
