Siemens is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Power Protection & Automation Field Technician Development Program (FTDP). This role will focus on building, training, and managing a team of field technicians who support engineering execution teams with factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, commissioning, and technical testing activities across the U.S. The goal of this program is to expand field execution capacity by developing technicians who can support tasks such as switchgear functional testing, relay injection testing, protection curve verification, test documentation, and commissioning support.

This hybrid position is based at our corporate headquarters in Wendell, NC. Located in the heart of the Research Triangle about 20 minutes east of Raleigh, Wendell offers top-rated schools, a mild climate, easy access to mountains and coast, and a cost of living that allows your compensation to go further. Local candidates are encouraged to apply. We offer relocation assistance for eligible candidates.

  • Lead continuous improvement of FTDP technical curriculum with domain experts and Power Academy. Partner with Engineering Managers, Project Managers, Power Academy, and field teams to align technician support with project needs.
  • Provide technical guidance on switchgear function testing, relay testing, commissioning support, and documentation.
  • Develop standard processes, checklists, training materials, and hands-on learning activities to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency. Monitor team performance, field readiness, safety, productivity, and employee development.
  • Capture lessons learned from FATs, SATs, and commissioning activities and apply them to future training, curriculum updates, and field execution improvements.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage team travel schedules, assignments, employee-overtime, tools, software access, and contending project priorities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% domestically to support field teams and customer/project locations.
