Job Description

Position: Facilities Technician 

Department: Site Services

Functional Area: Technical / Maintenance

Classification : Non-Exempt  Exempt

Reporting Structure: Facilities and Master Mechanic 

Educational Background Required:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ maintenance experience in a manufacturing plant.

Skills, Training, and Experience

  • Problem solving and decision-making training is an asset.
  • Working in high places – Man lifts, forklifts, scissor lifts and building roof lines.
  • Running EMT Conduit / MC Cable
  • 208 3-Phase, 277 volts, 480 Single Phase or 480 3-Phase
  • Able to perform tasks with small power tools.
  • Sheet rock installation/repair experience and able to paint.
  • Must be able to weld and metal/wood fabricate.
  • Must have own hand tools.
  • Must be able to perform basic landscaping duties.
  • HVAC experience is a plus.
  • Ability to solve practical problems
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision


Job Content: Essential Functions Required for Job

  • Plans details of working procedure by determining replacement needs or new material required and develops a logical approach to correct the problem. 
  • Analyzes circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service or replace electronic devices and systems.
  • Performing work requires thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes, properties of materials and principles of operation of electrical equipment. 
  • Start up and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shut down and in line with OSHA requirements.
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains communication cables, power distribution cables, then splicing pieces as required.
  • Determines need for, analyzes, and makes necessary running adjustments, repairs, and overhauls.
  • Advice and cautions operators and mechanics about potential electrical problems and inherent dangers involved with process.
  • Notifies supervisor of potentially dangerous electrical equipment noted and corrective action taken.
  • Perform routine planned maintenance on machinery, tools, and equipment with the objective of keeping such a high state of repair and readiness for support of production.
  • Analyze problems and find permanent solutions and repair.
  • Must be able to prepare written reports and updates to published orders/check lists.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures and safety rules as applied to the job task.
  • Other job-related duties and projects assigned.
