Job Overview

Join our Commercial Select Projects division and help bring some of Maine’s most recognizable buildings to life. From housing and hospitality to higher education and healthcare, our diverse portfolio offers the opportunity to work on impactful, high-visibility projects that shape communities.

As a Field Engineer, you will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foreman to support field operations and ensure project success. This role is ideal for a proactive and detail-oriented individual who is eager to learn and grow while contributing to high-quality projects.

Job Requirements

  • Support Superintendents and Project Managers by completing a variety of technical field-based project management functions and assisting in the planning and execution of construction projects from start to finish.
  • Track project progress and help maintain schedules, logistics plans, and look-ahead schedules.
  • Assist in managing project documentation: RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and daily reports.
  • Support daily field operations including project layout, quality control, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Participate in jobsite meetings, assist with issue resolution, and help maintain safety compliance.
  • Coordinate with design teams, vendors, and utility providers to keep work progressing smoothly.
  • Oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure quality and adherence to project specifications.
  • Assist with project closeouts by monitoring progress and ensuring that closeout procedures are started early and completed thoroughly at each step.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (recent graduates are encouraged to apply).
  • One to three years of construction-related experience preferred; internships, co-ops, or academic project experience are highly valued.
  • Familiarity with construction processes, materials, and safety standards gained through academic projects, internships or previous experience.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and carpentry equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Excels in a dynamic, collaborative, fast-paced, small-team environment where flexibility is key.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills to manage projects from start to finish while working under pressure of deadlines.
  • Eager to learn with the ability to quickly adopt new concepts.
  • Excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills interacting with all levels of internal staff, clients, architects, vendors, subcontractors, and other business partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and knowledge of project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, and Bluebeam) is a plus.
