Your Mission: Field Systems Administrator / Network Engineer (PGS Enclaves – Sigonella, Italy)

Join our elite Navy Air (NAVAIR) Solutions Group as the onsite Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Systems Administrator for the P8 I3B2 Ground Station (PGS) Enclaves at Naval Air Station Sigonella. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring seamless system functionality for one of the Navy’s most critical mission platforms.

Responsibilities:

Be the Backbone of P8 Ground Operations

  • Configure and maintain PGS systems to ensure peak operational performance.

  • Perform Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting for ground and select air components—including TACDS, networks, CSP/SSP, and Minotaur.

  • Share operational‑level maintenance responsibilities directly with Navy counterparts.

Support Real‑Time Mission Execution

  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues during pre‑flight, in‑flight, and post‑flight operations.

  • Assist with RSM builds/offloads and maintain interoperability between remote and local mission systems.

  • Provide rapid anomaly escalation and generate JIRA tickets for SME engagement.

Enhance System Reliability & Security

  • Execute scheduled, corrective, and emergency maintenance.

  • Conduct monthly security scans on ground‑based systems.

  • Implement software patches, upgrades, and modifications.

Strengthen the Network Infrastructure

  • Install, maintain, and upgrade mission‑critical hardware such as Dell servers, Cisco routers/switches, UPS, VoIP, and Adder systems.

  • Ensure network connectivity by collaborating with NAVAIR, PMW‑120, NIWC LANT, and other mission partners.

Enable the Fleet

  • Deliver on‑the‑job training for Fleet PGS operators.

  • Capture customer enhancement requests and collaborate with developers to drive mission‑valued improvements.

  • Provide after‑hours emergency system support to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • An active TS/SCI with Polygraph.

  • One of the following: – Bachelor’s degree in a related field ; – Associate degree + 4 years recent specialized experience; – Major certification + 6 years experience; – High school diploma + 8 years experience.

  • Ability to obtain DoD 8140‑approved IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE) within 90 days.

Desired:

  • Experience with Navy P3 or P8 mission environments.

  • Background in configuring, integrating, and troubleshooting classified systems and networks.

  • Strong understanding of routing protocols, OSI model, IPv4/IPv6, DNS, DHCP.

  • Proficiency with RHEL/CentOS, Windows Server, AD, DNS.

  • Experience with Cisco systems.

  • Familiarity with Python, Java, SQL.

  • Knowledge of NetApp/ONTAP tools.

Pay Range:

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
