Job Description
Team Summary
Global Controllership is responsible for establishing Visa's global accounting policies, providing technical guidance to the business, processing accounting transactions globally and consolidating all Visa entities' financial results.
The Controllership Data & Process Excellence (CDPE) team designs and scales practical data, automation, reporting, and AI-enabled solutions for Controllership and Finance. The team partners closely with business and technology stakeholders to improve reporting integrity, strengthen controls, reduce manual effort, and enable more efficient, insight-driven finance operations.
Role Summary
As a Forward Deployed Engineer within CDPE, you will work at the intersection of Finance, Controllership, CIT, and data warehouse delivery to translate real business problems into practical, scalable technical solutions.
This role is embedded close across Controllership processes and will focus on improving how our teams use trusted data warehouse sources, governed datasets, reporting pipelines, automation workflows, and AI-enabled tools. You will partner closely with CIT to shape requirements, validate source data, support data warehouse enhancements, prototype business-facing solutions, and ensure that CDPE outputs are built on reliable, scalable, and sustainable data foundations.
You will play a key role in connecting business needs with technology execution — helping Finance teams move away from fragmented manual processes and toward reusable data products, automated workflows, stronger controls, and more consistent reporting.
What you'll Work On
Partner with transformation and tech stakeholders to implement the Controllership data warehouse by translating Finance and Controllership needs into clear requirements, source-to-target logic, testing criteria, and scalable delivery priorities.
Understand real Finance operating problems by working with Finance, Controllership, and cross-functional stakeholders to identify pain points, reporting challenges, workflow inefficiencies, and control gaps that require practical solutioning.
Build practical data, automation, and reporting solutions by using tools such as SQL, Python, Power Query, Power BI, Power Platform, SharePoint, and GenAI-assisted development tools to create maintainable and fit-for-purpose Finance solutions.
Improve data quality, validation, and reporting integrity by implementing reconciliations, exception handling, control logic, monitoring routines, and lineage improvements with business stakeholders.
Deploy solutions into live Finance workflows by supporting user testing, documentation, deployment, adoption, and issue resolution so tools, pipelines, reports, and workflows are embedded into recurring business processes.
Build reusable CDPE patterns and scalable data products by converting recurring Finance and Controllership needs into reusable assets, automation templates, reporting foundations, workflow patterns, and governance standards.
Apply AI and agentic tools responsibly by using AI, GenAI, and agentic workflows to improve analytics, execution, issue detection, documentation, productivity, and technical development with appropriate controls and human review.
Enable adoption and uplift capability by partnering with Finance users, teammates and technology partners to support documentation, walkthroughs, change management, coaching, and sustained use of new solutions.
Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
What you will need:
We are looking for a hands-on, finance-oriented problem solver who can operate close to the business while partnering effectively with technology teams.
Strong ability to understand Finance and Controllership processes, diagnose operational pain points, and translate ambiguous business needs into clear data, automation, and reporting requirements.
Experience working with data warehouse sources, structured datasets, reporting layers, data transformations, and governed data environments.
Strong SQL and data analysis skills, with practical experience validating, reconciling, transforming, and interpreting large or complex datasets.
Experience using tools such as Python, SQL, Power Query, Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint, or similar platforms to build data, reporting, or workflow solutions.
Ability to partner effectively with Technology teams to clarify requirements, support testing, validate outputs, and resolve data or delivery issues.
Strong controls mindset, with attention to data accuracy, completeness, lineage, reporting integrity, auditability, and process discipline.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain business context to technical teams and technical concepts to Finance stakeholders.
Ability to move from problem discovery and prototype to deployment, adoption, issue resolution, and continuous improvement across Finance, technology, data governance, process, controls, and transformation stakeholders.
What will also help
Professional experience in Controllership, Finance, Accounting, Finance Operations, Data Analytics, Finance Transformation, or Business Technology.
Experience working on data warehouse projects, including data mart development, source-to-target mapping, report migration, pipeline validation, or data quality improvement.
Familiarity with enterprise data models, finance datasets, data lineage, semantic layers, reporting governance, and self-service analytics.
Experience partnering with IT or engineering teams to deliver business-facing data products, workflow solutions, or process digitization initiatives.
Exposure to Power Platform, low-code automation, operational reporting automation, AI, GenAI, Copilot agents, Claude Code, agentic workflow tools, or AI-assisted development approaches.
Experience documenting solutions, training users, supporting adoption, and operating with curiosity, learning agility, and comfort in ambiguous problem spaces.
Projects you will be a part of:
You will work on Finance projects focused on data, automation, reporting and analytics, while partnering closely with stakeholders across Controllership, Technology, Finance and other business teams. Through hands-on project delivery, you will help design and scale practical solutions that improve decision-making, strengthen controls and enhance operational efficiency across the organization.
Projects may include building and enhancing KPI dashboards and self-service reporting in Power BI, improving data preparation, validation and transformation processes, developing automated reporting pipelines using Python, Power Query, SQL and data warehouse sources and supporting workflow solutions that reduce manual effort and improve control effectiveness. You may also contribute to projects that explore or apply AI and Generative AI capabilities, including agentic tools and platforms, to improve analytics, workflow execution and business productivity.
