Job Description

Job Title: Software Test Engineer (QA Engineer)

Reports to : QA & Release Manager

The Position 


The Software Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of MARSS software solutions, including the NiDAR platform and associated applications. The role involves designing and executing test strategies for mission-critical surveillance, security, and maritime safety systems while working closely with software developers, DevOps engineers, and product teams to deliver high-quality releases. This description aligns with the technologies and development practices highlighted in MARSS engineering roles. 


Main Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases.
  • Validate functional, integration, regression, system, and acceptance testing.
  • Develop automated test frameworks and scripts.
  • Verify software functionality across Windows and Linux environments.
  • Test REST APIs, network interfaces, WebSocket communication, and backend services.
  • Perform GUI testing for web-based applications.
  • Validate software integration with hardware devices such as radar, cameras, sensors, and other surveillance equipment.
  • Report, track, and verify software defects using defect management tools.
  • Collaborate with software developers to reproduce and resolve issues.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Review software requirements and acceptance criteria to ensure testability.
  • Support release validation and deployment activities.
  • Maintain test documentation, traceability matrices, and quality metrics.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and automation.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 2–5+ years of software testing or quality assurance experience.
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and software testing life cycle (STLC).
  • Experience with:
    • Manual testing
    • Test automation
    • API testing
    • Regression testing
    • System and integration testing
  • Familiarity with Linux environments.
  • Experience using Git.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, sockets, REST APIs).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
