Job Summary:
Under general supervision, designs, codes, tests and deploys software in all layers of the development life cycle.  Provides the necessary documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, or information systems and/or equivalent formal training or work experience.  One (1) years work experience in information technology or engineering environment.

The primary responsibility of this role is under limited supervision to support and maintain legacy data pipelines for large volumes of data in batch or near real time to Enterprise Data Warehouse in Teradata. Work with a team of vendors to support the legacy acquisition framework in Ab Initio. 

Job Specific Information
The primary responsibility of this role is under limited supervision to support and maintain legacy data pipelines for large volumes of data in batch or near real time to Enterprise Data Warehouse in Teradata.
Work with a team of vendors to support the legacy acquisition framework in Ab Initio.
The data engineer will work with the ingestion framework team to facilitate the transition of the legacy data pipelines to modern ingestion framework
The data engineer will have strong computer science fundamentals including advanced algorithms, object-oriented programming, and data structures and should be able to leverage devops processes as part of SDLC and work in a fast-paced agile environment ensuring continuous delivery of high-quality software. 

Knowledge, Skills, Considered A Plus:

  • Strong skills in Ab Initio, Teradata, and SQL
  • Knowledgeable in streaming platform such as Kafka and messaging services such as JMS 
  • Knowledgeable develop in Azure data lake
  • Use CI/CD pipeline for promoting analytical solutions into higher environments through validation and operational gating and DevOps automation.  Experience in process automation and new application on-boarding, and integration with CICD pipeline
  • Apply software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, analysis/design, documentation, coding standards, code reviews, source code management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Scaling up from “laptop-scale” to “cluster scale” problems, in terms of both infrastructure and problem structure and technique

Key Areas of Focus:
  • Ab Initio graphs, control center, SQL, and Teradata to actively support and maintain legacy assets
  • Knowledge in Kafka to help the enterprise ingestion team transition legacy data pipelines
  • Azure Cloud Platform technologies
  • Shell Scripting 
  • Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud
