Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, designs, codes, tests and deploys software in all layers of the development life cycle. Provides the necessary documentation. Works with databases, APIs, servers, networks and various programming languages.
Job Specific Information:
We are looking for a Java Developer to build APIs that support consumption of data, information, and insights in batch or streaming formats at high data rates from FedEx’s Azure cloud-based analytical environment. In addition, the developer will help build data engineering pipelines for the enterprise data lake on Azure. The developer will have strong computer science fundamentals including advanced algorithms, object-oriented programming, data structures and a deep understanding of microservice architecture. They should be able to leverage devops processes as part of SDLC and work in a fast-paced agile environment ensuring continuous delivery of high-quality software.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test and deploy configurable, scalable, and robust Rest APIs and custom connectors between on source and consumers on public cloud
- Configure and manage API gateways
- Implement software solutions, including containerized microservices, on serverless and managed services on cloud
- Review requirements and translate into solutions
- Use CI/CD pipeline for promoting analytical solutions into higher environments through validation and operational gating and DevOps automation
- Apply software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, analysis/design, documentation, coding standards, code reviews, source code management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Abilities/Knowledge/Skills Considered a Plus:
- Java
- Apache/Databricks spark
- Shell Scripting
- Spring Boot, Spring Cloud
- Containerized software solutions on Kubernetes Service
- Code Control and CI/CD with tools such as Gitlab, Jenkins, GitHub, SonarQube, Nexus. Build Frameworks such as Maven or Gradle.
- Distributed Event Streaming Platform such as Kafka and messaging services such as JMS
- Experience is preferred in Azure Cloud Platform services such Azure Event Hubs, Azure Spring Cloud, Cosmos DB, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake Store and Delta Lake Storage Layer.
- Experience with technologies on AWS or GCP are acceptable if the candidate is a quick learner and capable of pivoting and delivering software solutions in the Azure environment.
- Practical understanding of Debugging, Threading, JVM tuning, Object Pools, Exception Handling, Logging, Transactions, Object Oriented principles, Dependency management and Dependency Injection.
Domicile: This position can be domiciled anywhere in the United States.
Remote Work: The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or related field and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. Requires three (3) years qualifying work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.
