Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, designs, codes, tests and deploys software in all layers of the development life cycle. Provides the necessary documentation. Works with databases, APIs, servers, networks and various programming languages.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or related field and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. Requires three (3) years qualifying work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.
* Network Automation Engineering team works in a DevOps environment developing Network Automation software supporting FedEx’s transition to a Software Defined Network (SDN) architecture. SDN spans multiple disciplines - software coding, virtualization, orchestration, and automation.
Additionally, the team implements and supports Network Management tooling to support network performance, fault and configuration management using automation to improve telemetry & analytics capability.
Opportunity to lead and gain experience in:
- Working on an Agile team of Full Stack Developers and Network Engineers to design automated solutions providing network connectivity and services for US domestic and International, including the next generation FedEx Hybrid Cloud Services.
- Network Management and Performance engineering
- Applying Agile software development using the latest automation tools and languages to develop and test next generation Network as a Services (NaaS) solutions. These solutions provide fully automated, cloud capability for network infrastructure using diverse software defined network (SDN) architecture.
- Implement in a CI/CD pipeline to apply modern network architecture principles, methodologies, tools and systemic process to support the launch of new business capabilities.
Preferred Skills include:
• Network Infrastructure or Telecommunications experience
• Programming Skills (Python, Ansible, Go, Scripting, Perl, PHP, Java/J2EE)
• Web Services (Restful, XML, JSON)
• System Administration (Linux, Regular Expression)
• Strong communications & interpersonal skills
